There have been too many cars offered at auction in recent years, IMO the auction houses are letting the market quiet down a bit. The same thing happened with 300 SL, I think there are very few offered at the Arizona auctions.
Thread title is `Scottsdale 2017'. I suggest you can create a separate Amelia thread so this one can stay focused.
Disagree. RM-Sotheby's has #00690. And none of the catalogs has been completed yet. You are way too early. A bit more patience, please. Marcel Massini
Marcel, I'm obviously going by the auction house web sites, however complete or incomplete they are at the time of posting. And for people considering attending auctions, this "way too early" intro to what is already committed (publicly) isn't really too early at all. I'm planning a trip to AZ and depending on what's on the docket will determine whether my trip is to catch an auction or to avoid the extra crowds and traffic and go a different week. Besides, the auctions are less than 4 weeks away...posting will be updated as more cars (or details) are made available.
Decisions, decisions. I will be travelling to AZ as well and have a slightly longer trip than from Carmel/CA to PHX/AZ. About 5'733 miles for me and a 12 to 13 hour flight. Dino #00690 has been on the RM Sotheby's website for at least one week now. Marcel Massini
There is no Dino on RM's web site for Scottsdale. I just checked again. So if it is, why not post the link to it because I searched through all Ferrari's and then all lots and came up empty.
RM's catalog now finalized (per email ~45min ago) and the Dino that Marcel referred to is now listed; RM/Sotheby (1): 1970 Ferrari Dino 246 GT 'L-Series', SN 00690 Est Range: $375k-450k 1970 Ferrari Dino 246 GT 'L-Series' by Scaglietti | Arizona 2017 | RM Sotheby's Gooding catalog also finalized, so vehicles now have estimated ranges and descriptions; Gooding (3): 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS, SN 05836, Rosso Rubino/Beige, US model with covered headlights Est Range: $325k-425k 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS | Gooding & Company 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS, SN 06106, Rosso Chiaro/Beige, US model Est Range: $325k-375k 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS | Gooding & Company 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT, SN 03978, Yellow/Black, Euro model with covered headlights Est Range: $275k-350k 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT | Gooding & Company
It may do well (although the auction estimates are very aggressive.....its not 2013 anymore) given the lack of high quality 2016 inventory. However, everyone thinks their L types are worth huge sums (I believe they are 80 lbs lighter than later GTs but I could be off here). They do look pure and the knock-offs are beautiful but the premiums seem unjustified.
Gooding Lot 4 1972 Ferrari 246GT 03978 Est 275 - 350k Sold $255,000 + premium = 280,500 RM Lot 261, 1970 Ferrari Dino 246 GT Coupe, $ 315 K, not sold
non of the Dinos were really good, nor anything special.... hence the low bids... I went to most of the actions and it can be said, no interest for average cars... most not sold.. especially Ferrari and Maserati.... but some top / unique cars sold above estimate like the Gullwing barn find at Gooding... but overall it only had very few of these cars here in Scottsdale... even worse the weather btw the Fiat Dino had just a cosmetic restoration as far as I could see... very good money for this car... off to Cavallino next week...
