I was watching when it went up on the block but the coverage broke to a commercial. Question, this is a ROW car. did they have to install the sugar scoop headlights to be US compliant when it was imported?
This is a Canadian Turbo Carrera, which is essentially USA-spec so sugar scoops would have been originally fitted.
Actually, this is not paint-to-sample. Royal Purple (also strangely referred to Lilac sometimes) was one of Porsche's colors in 1976.
My 77 930. When I bought it about 15 years ago the dealer told me it was aubergine. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Good price for a unrestored unusual color 930. Here is another unrestored original ice green 77 930. It was kept in the Gilmore museum ( headquarters of the Classic car club of America ) & owned by a family member for decades. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks guys, I appreciate all the kind words. This will be something completely different for me. Really looking forward to getting to know this car.
Interesting as you tend to not see this color often, then all of a sudden there are several about. I am in the process of buttoning-up some minor service and touch-up work on an Ice green/green int 77 US 930. Sugar scoops on this one a chrome.
Your car is a real beauty with great provenance. Last time I had mine @ Chicago PCA Concours although not detailed for show they promptly put it front and center. Ice Green is such a period vintage color. In the early 50s Porsche had a similar color referred to as Sea Foam Green. I have a photo of it on a 55 speedster in my garage with the IGM 77 930. Congrats, I hope yours like mine will really grow on you as mine did, to me.
In MY 77 royal purple wasn't available anymore, whereas in 75 it was a standard colour. In 79 it came back as "lilac"! Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
Thank you. The previous owner and I connected on the telephone yesterday for over an hour! I don't think I could have bought it from a better owner anywhere. I am feeling really good about the purchase now, even better than before. I drove it about 12 miles yesterday is all from the auction to my house and it rained of course! I have a 993 turbo and this thing feels REALLY different. I'm going to have a ton of questions so hopefully you guys can bear with me. First of all can someone tell me what the big dial is between the driver and passenger seat is? And what are the two levers (one red and one black) just in front of the dial, one says 'Throttle and I'm not sure what the other reads?
