They will drop likely to the 150-170k range which is cheap for a 650s convertible.

I bet our 650s with 1k miles will go for $175k when we sell in the next month. Sad, but was purchased for about $60k off sticker new.

Do we know what the MSRP of the 720 will be? If there's a substantial markup from the 650S, this could keep the 650S prices stable.

But that is selling to dealer right? Wouldn't private party be more? Throw it up on the classifieds. See what you get.

So 300k? Seems like all 650s were priced well above 300k as a new retail but were sold at significant discounts. Curious how the 720 will be handled.

Should be as successful as 570. Pricing around 330-350k. Prices should be much stickier as Mac is (finally) controlling supply. The 570 spider won't be out until 1q 2018 which is almost 2 years after coupe intro. 12c to 650 was a big oops but that's because 12c fell short and they realized to late. They are learning and getting better. 570S was a very successful launch. So wouldnt expect 720 prices to have similar impact like 650. The 720 will be around for a full cycle.

My 2 cents is that we are getting to a point of no return as far as speed. It I believe will be judged heavily on styling.

But I reckon if they did a central seat like the F1 they will have something different. That's the one thing that made the F1 totally different than any other car.

No I dont thinks so. Those brakes were ridiculously expensive and not able to be produced in quantity at this price point. They're made of silicon carbide instead of carbon ceramic. They are very cool though, they automatically keep the brake pads within millimeter to the rotor so the brake pedal feel is always consistant and feel like steel rotors, not grabby when cold or soft when hot.

Now yes but what I'm saying is if the P14 is really as good as all the hype then I think the 650s and 675LT will drop even more . I think based on 12c that you're likely be able to get ink a nice 650s for a 150-175k within a year..

Only potential issue with value is their product life cycle. Thought I read they are planning 15 new introductions by 2022. Doesn't seem possible, but maybe.

I hope you are right. Right now I have an SLS and 488 in my garage. I'm hesitant to get rid of the SLS as it 4K miles and going up in value. Hard to justify a 3rd weekend car but if prices drop enough I may be able to swing it by the boss.....errr I mean the wife.

Real problem is im already short of garage space. We built a 4 car garage and I'm getting s lift added but it may not be enough!

Mac depreciation is so crazy. I have to say I don't understand it as they aren't like the mass produced Lamborghini (i.e. Audi) that also drop like rocks. Personally I've always been Luke warm on the styling which is why I never bought one but from a performance standpoint and build quality if you like the styling the cars seam like a home run. What gives?

Too few dealerships. That changed a while ago and since then their values have held pretty good. They don't have the brand image yet but its slowly changing. They drive better than any other car in their segment though.

You can buy 570s for under sticker today. New. Mclaren hasn't figured out anything on pricing yet... I know fanatic Mclaren owners that would agree with what I just said.

You can buy many new exotics under sticker. What's your point?

If you're only familiar with the US Ferrari market, you're missing the bigger picture. The rest of the market and world are very different.

    570S residuals are solid.

Why would I care about other markets? I live, buy, and use my cars in the US. So that is the only market that matters to me.

Can't get a 570S on order below sticker. Tried. If it's a car in inventory, maybe 5% off. No different than Lambo. We have 3 Mac dealers near me: nj/ct/ny and a lot of buyers I know have tried. That said, yes depreciation has been an issue but the issue has begun to dissipate materially. 12c and 650 depreciation likely bottom of the curve. Mac is finally holding back. If you look at 570 inventory, about 11 cars for sale used nationally through authorized dealers. No spider until 2018. We'll see how they handle p14.

If you can't stomach depreciation on a car, don't buy it...get real estate. I took baths on my fcars but then again, I drove them more than 6500 miles before I sold. Yes, Ferrari holds value but some of this is because many are afraid to put miles on their cars and the manufacturer plays the supply/demand game. That said, '15 458 coupes with modest miles are selling for around 200-210k - I call this depreciation. Was offered a 488 with 1400 miles for 315k...that's before negotiating. Two calls over the past month to take an allocation on 488 being delivered.

These are all mass produced cars, drive them and they will depreciate.

I had 2 dealers offer me a 570s under sticker on the second/third communication. In addition they offered me more for my 458 trade than other dealers had offered. So we can debate about it all you like but the truth is I didn't have to look real hard to find a new 570s under sticker. Used ones with low miles they were moving big on as well. I ended up being more comfy buying a 488. Will I lose money on it? For sure, I drive my Fcars, 7k miles in 9-10 months on my 458. I will do similar on my 488 I am sure. Each dealer also had 650s in stock (new) and were trying to move me that way with "big" discounts. I wasn't interested in those since it was being replaced soon.

The market in TN is much different than east coast or west coast for that matter. That explains a lot. I tried and couldn't get discount. But debate is circular. McLaren has strict rules about getting a car shipped into a state that has an active dealer. So curious on the two dealers you reference. I have friends that would like the discounts you reference on 570S so please PM me and I can point them there if possible.

Neither were TN dealers. Both would probably be considered southern dealers. Id rather not put them on blast publicly or otherwise as at some point I will probably buy a Mclaren and one of those dealers were great with me and didn't get upset when I decided to get a 488.

I agree with most of what you say. I made calls at end of Dec on new 2017's (NOT '16) 570's and discount ranged up to 10% (over $20k off). It's all about timing and relationship. Also, as to 488 spoke with several dealers at the same time that were willing to go sticker...so those $30k mark ups are going away--what one advertises and what one sells are two different things.

There is more 570 inventory than is listed on dealer websites--plenty sitting at port ready to ship to dealers. One dealer has about 10 in or coming in the next 3 weeks. Plenty to be had.

P14 will be interesting and I think it looks great. Mc will pump out as many as possible rest assured.

But yes, all cars will hit that depreciation wall--oh joy :)
