Picked up my car today...think I've had several solid hours of blasting around with a 650s (albeit in typically terrible British winter weather).

    Some thoughts:

Buying a Ferrari is just as fun as it sounds, and I feel extremely fortunate, giddy and excited. It really does feel more than the sum of its parts and no matter how sceptical you might be about the brand I think the prestige, pomp and handover service really is infectious. I get why some guys here have been doing it quite a lot, or ended up speccing at the factory etc.

Savagely fast. I'm not sure how much quicker things can get from here, bar electronically assisted power. Fast pinpoint steering, and until its dry there's no way I'm going to get anywhere near its potential grip and acceleration limits. Look forward to getting it on track.

Imperceivable turbo lag. Now that the hubbub around launch where the 'fear' of this car losing character from its turbos seemed plausible, I think it's pretty obvious that was baseless.

Ride quality probably best I've experienced in any car. Bumpy road button in the Uk fairly essential and beautifully effective. Feels like you're cheating - executive limo gliding in a supercar with no loss of sharpness of change of direction. This really modernises the experience for me and makes the car feel really next gen, and a lot less tiring over longer periods. The same time in the 650 would've worn me out.

Loud. I specced sports exhaust as I wanted the black tips, but from what we could tell at the dealer it was markedly louder than the other 488s there. I am more than fine with this because it sounds incredible. Butterflies very useful though for not waking baby across street.

On this topic I might meet some opposition - but I'm already fairly certain it's better than the 458 in every conceivable way, including the sound. It's definately more livable and user friendly. Side by side I think it dates the 458 visually, which I guess it's supposed to. This into to say I don't admire the 458 as an incredible car, but I think there's an appreciable gap between them.

It smells great. I want to go back and sit in it just to get more leathery smell goodness.

Haven't found any drawbacks yet...will hopefully update with some actually decent pictures.

Correct; imho best to save $ and leave the exhaust stock with the 488 anyhow: save
for the acquisition of an exhaust valve controller seems there is not much else
    to improve sound..

Can you offer your comparison of the 488 to the 650s? I know the 488 is newer and more exciting because you just got it but long term- you think you will still prefer the 488 over the 650?

650 maybe not, 675 amazing so compares favourably. But $200 more in UK than a 488, similar spec.

Congrats....glad to hear somebody took delivery recently.
The rest of us are sitting around wondering when our cars that have completed production will be delivered due to the computer software problem.

Looks like the 488 I have - will check mine is still in the garage!

You pick it up from St Albans? Looks a familiar showroom from what little I can see.

Congrats - agree with everything you've written. Can't wait to take delivery of mine in a few months. Visually better resolved in every way than the 458 - aside from the side vent.
