I had to push and work it up from the bottom but still only had about a half to three quarters of an inch.

When I replaced mine, I put a good inch and a half or two under the shelf. Your trim guy made a mistake, I'm afraid.

+1 on 3M 8090 but 3M hi-strength 90 also works fine for interior applications. Both are super strong but heavy on the VOCs. I think i needed three cans to do a complete interior. The spray stuff does build as well if you want it to. I prefer to mask off the area to be glued. I used weldwood for the small vinyl trim pieces, overlaps etc.

    Agree, cut too short.

Interestingly in the GTS the carpet is only one piece going from the parcel shelf to the floor, not two pieces as shown in your GTB.

I'd be taking it back and getting them to do it again. Sorry to say but from the little I have seen it seems like an average job at best.

For the most part he did a great job. I'm not sure the carpet was cut too short, as over an inch resides under the shelf. The carpets came from GAHH, so I can't imagine why he would have trimmed it.

It's been seven years since the work was done, and I'm afraid my installer has since died. His son has taken over the business so I'll give him a call.

Cool, good luck with the fix.
