Petter... Love the price on the 86. Why do you think the convertible went for less? Anybody got an idea?

Gordon - I too really love the price on that 86 - as I have one getting ready to go back on the market. I think conversions are always difficult to figure out.

Wow...this is amazing! This is exactly what I've been saying and the way I feel when I drive my Murcielago Roadster. It's technically perfect, shifts faster than anyone ever can and it's.....absolutely boring. This is my exact fear about moving from my Murcielago to an Aventador roadster. The couple I have test driven are too smooth and once the wowness wears off....it's leaves you wanting.
This is why I just keep coming back to my Testarossa....even though I'm not a Ferrari kinda guy lol

Interesting - this spring I'm going to help a non-tech savvy friend sell his '91 Testarossa.

Euro car (Swiss market, has catalytics) located in Toronto, Canada. It has approx 52K kms on it, Rosso Corsa on nero (I love the black interior!). No records, will need belts, runs and drives but clutch might be at the end of life. It's a very clean car, with a few minor blems.

I'm curious what a fair price would be

I think those bids up to $5-600k (at previous auction) were quite clearly shill bids trying to sucker a real bidder into the fray.

Wasn't there also a fair bit of controversy surrounding whether it was really one of the show cars? Legend has it that the real show cars were Black but since they didn't film well in the night scenes, they had them painted white. If this is one of the real 'Vice cars, it should have a paint code for black or metallic black.

I disagree. The market has just about corrected itself. The Testarossa value should see an increase. I think the days of sub 100K cars will be gone within 1 year. At this point its hard to imagine a Testarossa selling in the 40s but you could get a good one in Los Angeles in the 40-50s range a few years back.

There will come a day when its 200K for a sorted clean Testarossa, perhaps a few more years but 2018 I think a solid 150K

As a collectible, it's just going to ebb and flow with the market. I personally do see higher values related to a strengthening economy.

As for those mythical 40k tr's....that has been debunked in the TR section over and over. The only time I ever saw a links was to either fake sales, ebay starting bidding or to salvage rough cars.
I have never seen a even medium quality tr sell on average at that price level. Yes....there's the occasional recessionary deal...not definitely not the average.

I think being in a big city with a lot of Ferraris makes all the difference
In 2012 I bought a great Testarossa. It needed a major but other than that it was in beautiful condition.
Cost me in the 40s. Not mythical in Los Angeles...at least a not in 2012

All in after the major and a few minor fixes I was in the 50s with a perfect Testarossa. Don't get me wrong I knew it was a great deal at the time

That being said those days are LONG GONE.

Wouldn't surprise me. I especially liked it when BJ wiped the result on the second run when the bid dropped significantly. That was cute
