I just purchased and had delivered a 1999 550 Maranello. When looking at the car the trunk release on the dash worked and the trunk opened. Now the switch does not release the trunk and the emergency manual release behind the drivers seat won't release it either. When activating the dash switch it sounds like it is activating something in the trunk but it does not open. Any suggestions???

First of all...try posting in the 550 section for more views. Perhaps you could have someone try to lift the lid as you activate the actuator?

Sounds like something might have gotten wedged in the edge of the trunk lid to keep it from opening easily.

I agree that you're going to need a second person to keep pushing the Trunk Open switch on the dash while you try to get the trunk open from the rear of the car.

I would try pushing down on the truck lid and then lifting up as they push the button.

I sometimes had a similar issue with my gas cap cover on my 550 because the rubber flap inside the cover would get caught on the edge of the cover, so it took two people to get the cap cover open, one to push the button the dash and me working the cover up and down to get it to clear.
I now am a lot more careful on how I fold the rubber flap inside the cover to keep that from happening.

You have to pull the emergency release harder then you may think. Those buggers are quite tight in those cars, and as others have mentioned, have a helper.

I recently had a similar issue. I think the sealing gasket just gets sticky. Once open, tret the rubber seal with something like Armorall.

Yes I got it open, yea!!
The electronic latch worked, once and it opened. The emergency release did not have the small bolt on top of the plunger so it was not reaching the manual release. Once I put a bolt in the top to extend the plunger it works every time and easily.
The electronic release is still not working consistently so I will need to trouble shoot that next. It seems to activate but it does not release, so I am thinking it is the latch mechanism.
