These are for a 71 Daytona.

I think I have found some reproduction Cromodoras for the Daytona, need to verify, and then prepare for gold paint. They are aluminum or course as they are reproductions.

Do these look right? I have asked them twice and both times the answer was "that is what the suppler says".

Can someone point me in the direction for the correct color for the gold?

    Thanks!

Here is the answer to a series of questions I asked. Perhaps a bit cryptic. The 5 bolt pattern is for the rings and spline right?

1-What is the 5 bolt pattern for? 5 wheel bolts per wheel

    2-What is the width? Front and rear of course. Front 7 x 15 rear 9 x 15
I think the rears are suppose to be wider,

3-What is the size? What size tire goes on these? 215/70 VR 15 radial. Tubeless

4-Are these like the originals, Pattern are made to same spec as original

5-Can you be 100% sure you will use the correct gold paint? Should they be powder coated instead? I do not know I do not paint or powder coat wheels you can paint them yourself if you prefer.

    Juan,

I called a few of the old school Ferrari people I know. No one really had any specific answers for the color of the gold wheels. Only one had mentioned Cadillac Engine Gold. I sprayed out a few colors. The best we came up with was PPG DU25386 Goddess Gold Poly as below in the photos. Its not the correct color, but the best we could do at the time.

    1. 5 bolt holes are, to bolt the splines/ hubs on with, then covered over with the large cover, you will have to buy new splines/hubs or use the old ones from your old wheels if they are not wires, Ferrari UK sell the covers at a good price. Eurospares sell the wheels and hubs. the 9" wheels do not come with Ferrari script on but are good replicas.
    2. standard is 7.5" all round, 9" rears fit with 225 tyres from memory, I can take a look tomorrow to confirm if you like.
    3. answer above
    4. as above
    5. sorry can't help with the colour

This is what the Eurospares look like made up on a car. [ sorry not the greatest pic's ]

Bill, if you go to the bottom of this page, I wonder if the color codes can be found in that sample pack on the right hand side of the page? Or if the Scuderia gold wheels are the correct color?

Cromodora used to sell the 'Daytona' look for all Italian cars of the early seventies.

First wheels I installed on my Alfa GT. I am wondering if that gold hue is correct.

Of course the wheels are 43 years old, but are still original gold.

This topic is really funny, because a long time ago, before the brouhaha that happened in the Vintage Section of F-chat, I asked the same question about the gold wheels.

Well, for the most part, I got derision, insults, and one guy went to the extreme of telling me to put 'polka dots' on the wheels.

Juan, if you like, I can have a small tin made up here (3rd world) of the original gold, if you deem it is the proper gold.

    Regards, Alberto

Wow, Alberto that is very generous indeed. Thank you. I think I have found the wheels. I am so lucky that in our little ex textile town, a family moved here from Vermont that specializes in bodywork and paint. He did the ex Price GTO. I plan to have him paint the wheel, and I will tell him about this.

Alberto, I am afraid I have run out of time. I take it you are in Italy, Russia or Argentina! I think we have a handle on it, but may indeed be getting back to you after the event, We are less than 4 weeks out. I did find the hilarious post about the polka dot wheels lol. They should get into a conversation with my friend Bob Zambelli. That would be fun lol.

When the car was restored it had one set of gold wheels, and i raced at Castellet with them. But then i looked at period pictures and while the gold wheels look very cool, the car never had such colored wheels in period. So i switched back to the grey ones, i think i kept one gold set,,,for future reference and the other sets that we use in competition are grey. Of course even with a quick glance, they look much wider than 7 and 9",,,but the car has 486hp on the bench thanks to Piet Roelofs!
first picture is mine and the one at Le Mans Classic 2016 is credit Tim Scott.

You are right Juan, I am too far away, but glad to see you have painted the wheels, they look great.

Isn't the polka dot bit too much? The reply came from my Spanish friend
(not at the moment) and he was the reason why the vintage section has taken all the changes it has as the issue became red hot!

If want a good laugh, read that one...

Which paint did you end up using for these? The PPG DU25386 code from above?

The "conventional wisdom" is that powder coating the OLD alloys takes the bake temps too high.

So, late to the thread, I am glad you sprayed them!!
On a new wheel. lots of people do powder coat.

    So....

Sorry to be so late...well, the painter actually did the current scuderia wheel color and they came out fine. He said, at least you know it is a Ferrari color.
