I believe it's going ot be surgical titanium with plastic sliding surfaces/cushions. However, I'm going to ask about zirconium/ceramic next time I see him.

Everyone I've met with knee or hip replacements all say exactly the same thing: Life changed so much for the better that they wish they'd done it years sooner.

I hope your goes just as well!

Good luck with the repair work. Agree with the above post. And DON'T rush things. You will be fine, just be a patient patient...

Good Luck Verell. I had my left knee done on 1/9 and it's amazing what they can do. Still some soreness, but to look at it, you almost can't see the incision. The PT is tough, but be stubborn and do what they say. You may cuss your doctor for the first few weeks but after that you'll be praising him. Biggest risk.... your wife/care giver will be "tested" as well.

Surgery last Wednesday AM went well. Was actually up & walking using a walker 3 hours after surgery, altho there was "some discomfort".

Medical term: SOME DISCOMFORT: def: Hurts like Hell. :(

Thursday: Slept a lot & participated in 2 PT sessions. Again, some discomfort.

I was discharged Friday afternoon after 2 more PT sessions. Oh, yes, they started me on rat poison. ;)

Am doing the set of physical therapy exercises 3x/day. I try to schedule them so the painkillers have had time to take effect. Hard painful work & NOT FUN but I don't dare not keep at them.

I can say I am measuring progress. Friday when I was dismissed I could only flex my knee 84 degrees, Today the visiting PT measured 94 degrees, well ahead of the goal for the 1st 2 weeks.

I'm confined to the first floor & using a walker. So can't get downstairs to the Unobtainium shop/shipping area. Looks like Unobtainium will be closed at least until April 3rd.

The titanium/teflon is unbreakable so no worries. I've been living 12 years with these parts - the three lower joints in my back are titanium. It will take some time for everything to "set",after that your good to go :)

Hey, maybe something to add to Unobtainium Supply! ;)

Probably an even higher profit margin than Ferrari parts if you can believe that! :p

Get well soon, but take your time. :)

It's been 2 weeks since my surgery. I'm starting to transition from a walker to using a cane.

3 sets of Physical Therapy/day consumes an amazing amount of time, along with icing my knee down after each set. There just isn't much left of the day afterwards.

I had hopes of beginning to put some time into Unobtainium, but it's going to be at least another week or 2 before I can put in more than a few hours/week.
