Had a question about the colors and number of led shift lights on the steering wheel of the 488. How many are there? 9? And are the last two lights a different color? Blue?
The new Lusso and probably the 812, have red and blue leds. The last two are blue color. I wondered if the 488 had the new lights too
My 458 leds are all red too. The new V12s have this new red and blue format with a total of nine leds.
I didnt like the all red but fixed that with a very quick, less than 10 minutes, and fairly cheap swap. Ordered this from MAcarbon on Friday and it's now in the car. Steering wheel blocks Tach after 5k RPM so I used the shift lights, now much easier. I went with the Red Red Red Blue Blue option. Image Unavailable, Please Login
From driving a 488 few times and far between (not my car) all I can tell you is that everything happens so fast you don’t have time to look at the LEDs one by one. You just glimpse at them off the corner of your eye with your peripheral vision. Your ears become more relevant than your eyes when the time comes to upshift. But I think there are 5 LEDs and they’re all red, as in the 458. Kind regards, Nuno.
For the most part it is by ear but it’s nice now that a slight glimpse of blue means it’s time to shift. Plus the blue matches my car
5 red leds light up too fast. Best to have White or Blue on the last 2 leds so you will see it. New F8 , 812 etc have the extra leds and last 2 coloured blue
The leds are impossible to miss, and come on so fast - especially in lower gears. Once 3-4 come on I'm pulling the shifter. I'm not sure different colors would help but sounds like a nice mod.
When the last 2 are different colour you just notice it in the corner of your eye. The real way like F1 cars and aftermarket LEDs , MoTec you have a series of lights . You don't count them or anything you just see them lighting up. And as soon as the shade changes , that's why white and blue are good , you shift. Having 5 red really doesn't do much , your supposed to be looking at the road !
