Given the cost of CC brakes any thoughts on a conventional retrofit on cars that came with CC brakes?

Lots of folks do it. Especially people that track their cars. Once the CC rotors start to go, and they will with track use, replace the whole setup with steel and you're good to go.

Or get some ceramic rotors that last nearly forever, like Mov'It. They use a completely different transform system that makes the rotors last, even if tracked. The rotors become effectively solid carbon silicon carbide. About the same price as OEM rotors and their proprietary pads do not squeal or produce dust. Have been running them for about 5 years on the street only.

MOV´IT offers Ceramic Replacement- and Upgrade solutions for Porsche, Ferrari and Aston Martin.
The MOV'IT-CER™ solutions offer a higher life-span, improved mechanical and thermal characteristics, and...

Well that leaves out any hope of an OEM application.

Brian- Affirmative, not sure if Brembo ever went to that kind of transform, or not. Racing Brake has a limited selection of rotors made the same way, but only for the rear of the V8s and front of the Scud/16M.

New Giulia QV comes with either one. Should be direct fit. Haha. I am saving up for a real one in the next couple years.

I'm putting CCs on my f1 2009 Maserati - love driving it with the 599 F1 but I drive pretty fast and the brakes arn't up to the speed - as the old saying goes can't drive fast if you can't stop
This way I can drive my Scud and gorgeous 612 less and run the GTS like a mad dog

Thanks, Terry! I need to look into those.

My stock 430 steel brakes just aren't cutting it, even for the only occasional track use they get. I need to upgrade to something, and if this is a ceramic upgrade that won't bankrupt me over time, it's definitely worth looking at.

Send Guido a request sheet. Their steel brakes are also a huge step up from the 330 mm Brembos you have, and not as expensive as the CCRs. Plus the calipers are beautiful. These are front 380 mm steel brakes with 6 piston, billet calipers. I had Ferrari decals put on mine.

Nice. I was thinking Giro Disc (that's what I have on the Lotus) but will definitely compare when the time comes. Only thing is I have a personal bias against drilled rotors. Too prone to cracking.

Paul- Not really. Most cracks are not an issue, at any rate. Note all the late big V12s starting with the 550 have drilled rotors.

    Here is something helpful.
