What are you listening to...?

^Interesting question. I lived in Memphis for a while, and so I am perhaps biased, but what little I have read up on the subject suggests that the roots of rock and roll are more Southern than Western. However, the old saying goes, success has many fathers, failure is an orphan, so I think a lot of places/music styles have laid claim to the birth of RnR. However, most seem to agree, that the term "rock and roll" has a sexual origin. And, that's the way it should be!
