I came across this picture of a 288 GTO Spider...

I had no idea this ever existed (I knew about Testarossa Spiders, one F40 barchetta, one Porsche 959 Cabrio) but never about a 288 GTO Spider...

My Guess in the order of likelihood :

    1) Replica (most likely)
    2) Photoshop (maybe)
    3) Accident Car Converted to Spider (maybe)
    4) Factory Special Program Spider (unlikely)

What do you guys think ?

Anyhow, I think it looks cool !!! Like the Testarossa Spider in Outrun, maybe a bit cooler...

Don't like it at all but then again I generally think that coupes are better looking than convertibles derived from them. The 288 gto is one damn good looking coupe to start with so chopping its roof off only messes up it's awesome lines...

    Replica.

Although since there was never a factory-built 288 GTO Spyder, strictly-speaking its a custom creation.

We built this car in the 90's for a customer. Check out our website to see some of the stuff we are doing currently, we have been talking about doing a second one but who knows. Jim Carpenter's Italian Design and Racing | Cars

wheels aren't original, so I think it's this replica starting from a Fiero. There are some pics on google images.
