Note the close up of the thin binding of the carpet, not big and bulbous but delicate.

The wool carpets are bound with a naugahyde, in a lighter color than the carpets.
The stiching is done as the original, when the car was new.
Some people use leather and this would be IMHO wrong. They also use a much different binding technique which IMHO is again wrong.
    Ciao,

(I never have seen an original car with bindings in darker colour than the carpet but I have seen a lot of cars with NON original looking carpets and bindings)

What I have seen under the rear jump seats is insulation (foam) covered with thin vinyl. Of course the foam attracts moisture which is another reason why these cars rusted so badly.

Is this on your one off car #504? Or a production car?

As I recall, it was done the same way on #1129. Unfortunately I do not have photos from that car that show that area.

Really great photos of that car.
I and others would appreciate it very much if you could post more photos of the same car?
Note that the convertible top cover is snapped all the way around on this car and not tucked in.

The patina of this interior is just absolutely magic. You just want to seat in there and enjoy.

Oh that is beautiful! Thanks for posting. There are few interiors that I dislike more than brand new scarlet leather, yet there are NONE I love more than old patinated carmine.....
I guess I just lack the patience to watch one turn into the other!!

Wish I still had the pictures, but in June 2007 I was offered a Vignale that was having its restoration completed out of Canada. The price was $181,000CAD.

The car was being finished in white as I recall. I was debating between a manual 575 and this car. The 575 fit my needs a bit better and was also somewhat cheaper. Also, wouldn't have to deal with Canada to US, and I'm not a big fan of white.

While I have not done bad with my 575, clearly the 3500 would have been the better investment.

Does anyone know which car I was offered? My emails don't go back that far.

    Thanks!
    dsd

One door panel finished, and one to go, and then the job is pretty much finished.
Note the delicate pipping around the door panel, which most trimmers leave off.
The chalk marks are where the screw holes go, and yes I will be using the original oval slot head screws with cup washers. (Got them with the leather from Italy)
I Love this leather, and the color.

I of course have the original seats and will re leather them in a week or two.
    So stay tuned.
For now these Smart Car seats actually out of a "Zen" will work great for me in order to drive the car in comfort.
They are really comfortable for a guy of my size. I can move them fore and aft and note how the backs recline much further than the stock ones.
For shows I can change to the original seats in less than 10 minutes. So its no big deal.
The object to owning the car is to enjoy it in comfort, right?
