Kit Carson's son, Scott Carson, was head of Boeing Commercial. I'd read about Kit several years ago. There's a YouTube of him giving a talk not too long ago. I'll try to find it.

Here's an article about Scott, Kit and the Air Tractor...

Sunday Buzz | Plane for Boeing exec almost done — in Yakima | Seattle Times Newspaper

Here's the YouTube of Kit speaking:

Thanks so much for that video of Kit. That brought back some things that I had shoved way back in my head. Thanks Jim Curry for bring it up, too. Not many guys like Kit anymore.

Bob, I watched the video, wondering if you were in the audience.

Nope, I wasn't there, I don't attend WPA functions anymore, I haven't since the early 60's. Not an active pilot anymore and have too many things happening. i worked with Kit on the Model 80 transport relic when it came down from Alaska in the early 60's.

for those who are geographically challenged by the museum being in the NW corner of the country... the Navy has a museum of flight in Pensacola Fl... home of Blue Angels who can be seen practicing almost daily ( when not on road doing shows ) lots of aircraft on display and exhibits which can consume a day or two depending how intense one's interest is... refer to their web page for details... admission is FREE

...and for the rest of us; :)

SAC museum near Omaha, NE (with a B-36 and B-52 in the same hangar).

AF museum in Dayton, OH. Fabulous.

The National Atomic Museum in Albuquerque is interesting, too, if not on a level with the large museums at Dayton, Pensacola, and Seattle. They have a B-52, B-29 and other aircraft on display, even the sail from a boomer.

Where is it located? I'm there somewhat often (grew up there, too).

Edit: Found it, on Eubank, S of Central. Wow, a B-47, too. Haven't seen one of those since I was a kid.

Ha We used to drag race out there on Eubank. There was absolutely NOTHING out there then.

Have fun there. My whole family enjoys going for free on the first Thursday of every month (kind of a zoo on those occasions). You can spend an hour alone gazing at the details of the SR71. All that titanium! I had the pleasure of discussing it in detail with one of my patients who was a flight engineer in one in the '60's. The stories he told...

You just can't consume the place in one visit. You have go at least 4 or 5 times and dedicate the hours of each visit to a subsection. And I'm not even a pilot nor want to be, I just have a healthy appreciation of flight.

T- It was on base originally, but 9-11 killed access to it so they moved it east of the base. Was a real chore moving the aircraft and missiles.

I wish I could see all the exhibits in all the aircraft and WWII museums in USA and Europe. Wish visitors to such palces took good videos of everything. Visiting the website still don't show you everything. Not much at all. So for now another dream .

Great weekend visit, I managed to pack a lot of activity into a short time period. A bit sleepy as I fly out of SEA but I'll leave a few choice photos here before getting some shut-eye, and will come back later to add commentary.

I was down there on the 4th doing an airbag recall on my BMW.
I could only spend about an hour and half and the shop called me back.
I was disappointed that I couldn't get into the Fightdeck of the Shuttle trainer.
They had it closed off, "Special Tours Only".

I especially like the upper level of the Fighter Wing that holds all of the WWI stuff.
