I dont know much about the car other than whats in my first post. I got the ok to post the car for sale for a friend of mine. But i did make a comment about that exhaust and he said it was from a german company. I may be going back there on monday so ill look at it again. I do know this, that the paint on the car is awesome. I couldnt see a mark on it.

It appears to be well maintained. By looking in the window there an upgraded stereo system in it.

I owned this car for a few weeks. It's a very nice example, but it does have a blemish on the carfax. Apparently it went off road and made contact with some bushes. The damage was minor but there was some paintwork required.

the car is still for sale and the price is reduced to 145k. I can't see a mark on the car and from what I believe it was just a minor blemish on a front bumper.

Yes but based on the Ferrari world the car would have to be scrapped or it has no value :)

It all depends on how it was repaired. At the dealership = definitely. Through insurance = definitely.

It depends on the paint work also- if it was the hood, or doors, that will hurt your value more than the bumper/ rockers. Its just how it is. Also I would note the car appears to have steel breaks. Really not a big deal in terms of driving enjoyment but it matter to the market. Anyway, the price seems right and again, IF its in good shape then this seems like a great deal for someone who wants a stick shift F430. And let me say this: YOU DO!

    Could this be the exhaust?

Our company performs market valuations for insurance companies & lenders. We also assess vehicles for diminished value. My suggestion to all is to keep a copy of the repair estimate and take pictures of the damage before & (if possible) during the repair. As far as damage being reported to Carfax or Autcheck etc., I’ve seen reports that even list glass repairs. Many times the reporting agency is the police.

Some police departments report EVERYTHING, and often incorrectly, most often because they do not care. One of my old cars had a slashed top and was reported by the police as a "ROLLOVER" on the carfax. Another was rear ended, pushed 100 feet, and then rear ended again. Even though it was a clear assault, the police officer did not even file a report, despite my request. Despite a $10,000 rear-end repair, the Carfax is clean. My GT-R has had a full re-spray (entire car), and its carfax is spotless.

Carfax will correct their error if you can provide documentation of the incident and the repair. They do not want to get sued. That said, they are morons. When I corrected my slashed-top "ROLLOVER" by sending them copies of the police report and photos of the damage, it changed from "ROLLOVER" to "ACCIDENT," even though there was never any accident. They are a garbage company.

Very true. It definitely pays to check the Carfax et al for accuracy after an accident. A big one is noting that the vehicle was towed. That gives the impression of a bad hit, but many times its just a flat or battery. And its not easy to get it changed.

Some folks are lucky - in our experience, Carfax & the others have less than 60% of all damage claims.

Interesting, reading that "a big one noting that the vehicle was towed. That gives the impression of a bad hit, but many time its just a flat or battery." I've had a few tows over the years, due to mechanical issues, but always have the spare tire/lug wrench/jack, to change a flat. Amazing the number of cars advertised that do not have a spare tire/wheel with the car! And any time a car has to be winched/dragged up on a flatbed, always a chance of the car getting damaged. Still remember about a year ago, riding with a friend in his 360, going to a car show. About 200 miles from home, he hit a big chug hole, damaged the tire and wheel, & NO spare. That was a long day, riding back home in a tow truck.

i wouldn't want to carry a spare due to the extra weight. worth taking a chance at a tow to me

Is the weight savings really THAT big of a deal on a street car being driven 3/10 or 4/10 the vast majority of the time? Might as well stop accepting passengers if that's the case ;)
