Have been through numerous threads on getting car up to take off all four wheels, and make sure the frame not flexed enough to bend it or crack windshield. Didn't find a definitive step by step, so answers to "???" below would be appreciated.

    - front first or rear first "???"

    - front - jack the car up using jack point in front of each rear wheel
    - front - place jack stands "???"

    - rear - jack the car up (using some sort of protective cover) at the transmission drain cover
    - rear - place jack stands at each of the two jacking points in front of rear wheels

There are several exposed frame members at each end of the car. Pick a point that will not be in the way of what you are doing.

If you raise the rear high first you will not be able to get a jack under the front. Start at the front or lift the rear a little then do the front.

Jacking at the trans housing freaks people out. It has been done since they were new cars and I have never seen a problem. The cross members that are accessible are not strong enough and will be damaged so the alternative is to use 2 jacks, one at each longitudinal frame member. The front has a jacking point in the form of a hook or plate in the center front that bolts through the bodywork to the frame.

There is a jack point on each side of the car, below the rear of the door opening approx. If you jack it there, it will lift the entire side and you can put a jack stand in the front and back. You may need a small chock of wood to fit between the two metal protutions about two inches apart. Works great.

Are you talking about the aluminum structure that is the lower part of the bell housing and attaches to the rear motor mounts?

Sorry to revive a very old thread, but is the frame strong enough here to used as a jacking point?
Just wanted to be absolutely sure before I use it.
( I hope it is okay that I use a photo from your amazing thread @pshoejberg )

If it is strong enough it is a convenient jacking point, and it feels good to be able to lift the car without twisting it.

I would not use that point to lift the car. You will have to use a 2 x low rolling jacks and lift on each side on the structure the wishbones are attached to or on the bottom front corner points each side. Remember to use a thick rubber plate to distribute the weight onto the jack to avoid scratch marks.

    Best, Peter
