Have a careful read of Item 15 as to what they classify as personal effects. Essentially they are referring to items that you have in your luggage when you arrive in Australia, duty free and household items.

(e) passengers’ personal effects, furniture or household goods

A car doesn't fall into this category.

Importing a car as a personal import gives you concessions around compliance and registration, definitely not with duty and GST.

It most certainly is not an Aussie Spec 2v injected 308 , Mr Aircon!!

Chassis number indicates UK market "c" instead of "d" in VIN #, Euro spec rear bumper, (Australian cars had USA Market rear bumper) and Flag mirrors are in UK market position and clock and oil temp are located in centre console rather than to cubby hole to right of the steering wheel.

Possibly O/S tourist delivery done through Local dealers at the time?

If it was OS delivery through Aust dealer should be "D" in VIN for Aus spec.

Sounds like personal import to me.

 

I agree Mr Horse, "C" in VIN # indicates UK delivery!

How could it have an Australian compliance plate (official ) and UK ViN # but delivered new by Lance Dixon's.

1983 build for a 2v injected? QV's were in production then.
