Wonder why Novitec or Capristo hasn't jumped in on this thread to defend their product(s)?

I think that is a wise decision by Novitec ....

I think they want it to go away but I think it is important that all members on this forum do not end up in the same situation I found myself in. Novitec and Capristo are fully aware of this thread.

Did the OP contact them before running to the internet to complain?

I mean, could just be a bad part and didn't give them a chance to correct.

I have no interest in Novitec parts at all but did the vendor ignore issues?

I contacted Novitec directly and they did not respond. The Distributor contacted them with the photos I provided and Novitec said that the parts had not been installed correctly and they did not accept our claim. Everyone knows that the foglight surround is a bolt on part and there is no way to adjust it. If you look at the earlier posts you can see I have one OEM Carbon surround now. When the other comes, Ferrari will fit them and I will post pics so everyone can see the difference. Novitec should have apologised immediately, made up a new pair, checked the fit on 458 to be sure and then sent me the new pair. Capristo Offered to help and disappeared. I am not happy with either of these companies and I shall not be giving them my business.

You have to be ready to accept responsibility when things go wrong and put things right. Not disappear. If they had done that I would not have come on here to vent my frustration.

Feel bad for you but it is really whoever made the product for Novitec. Shame on Novitec for not standing behind the product. Bought a Novitec carbon engine cover for my wife's Alfa 4c, Fit is poor and I had to modify the cover to fit the OEM parts. Suspect that they get the original cover, make a mold and produce the product. Unfortunately, any shrinkage or change in the mold as compared to the original results in the faulty part. Should make the mold, make the part and the modify the mold. Adding Novitec lowering springs to the 458 and only because I know that they are made by KW.

Sorry things have gone wrong for you also. The dealer is still waiting for the second foglight surround to come in from Ferrari. My car has been at the dealer 2 months because of Novitec. I will never touch Novitec stuff again.

It is very disappointing to read such postings, especially when you get blamed when you cannot fulfill the customer’s wish because it is technically impossible.

Our UK distributor contacted us, they had sold a Capristo F458 carbon fibre diffuser and two fog light covers from a different vendor the customer was very happy with the quality of the Capristo product but unhappy with the quality of the other vendor, the fitment wasn’t good. The other parts would not be easy to fit and if we (Capristo) could not do the fog light covers .. in the meantime Raul1976 contacted us as well .. he wanted to have us built the parts but we told him that we did not have the OEM foglight covers to do the scanning. Raul1976 offered us to send the OEM parts and 2 days later we received them. We started doing the analysis to estimate what would have to be done:

    1). Scan OEM parts – 1 day
2). Do the CAD 3D construction - aprox. 2 weeks
3). Do the CAD 3D construction of the alloy molds – 1 week
4). Do the tooling on the milling machine – aprox. 2 to 3 weeks
5). Do the carbon fibre production molds – 1 week
6). Start production of the final product carbon fibre parts – 1 week

We told Raul1976 that to manufacture them in Capristo quality it would take around 6 to 8 weeks and then Raul1976 became very rude. He just wanted to grant us 4 weeks to manufacture the parts. If we would not agree to do them within 4 weeks he would also return the Capristo diffuser even though he was very happy with it. We are now for 27 years on the market .. but I have never had a situation like this.

Raul, if you think that we are a bad manufacturer because we cannot do magic – then it shall be like this .. we always have tried to have satisfied customers .. but sometimes even our hands are tied

Please see attached emails that show that it is not feasible to manufacture (produce) the parts within 4 weeks and we tell also the distributor that we will need between 6 to 8 weeks.

Please have a look on the email communication and the dates that took place between us and the distributor (Raul was in cc'ed). We started communication on 25th (where it started) and then 2 days later (27th) we already told him that we will need 6 to 8 weeks.

I ask myself which time he has wasted due to us? please keep in mind that on 25th his parts were send out and as soon we received them we already answered.

    Hi Jack,

I have been contacted by my spanish friend Raul.

He is very unhappy with the XXXXXXXXX carbon fibre parts and have asked if we would not be willing to do them in “nice” .. ok, being a Spaniard we will check if we can produce the foglight covers for the F458.

    Just that you know.

    Best

    Hi Jack,

tried to reach you but you were in a conference as I was not available when Raul called the first time.

I really don’t know him but to be honest if someone calls and tries to find out whether we can do the fog light covers within 4 weeks within 48 hours .. well you know .. that’s kind of difficult even for us.
Tony has checked how long it will take and seriously it will require between 6 to 8 weeks.
I know Raul has his car at the Ferrari dealer and probably due to the costs he does not want to transport it back and forth but for us it is nearly impossible to make it within the 4 weeks he is expecting.
Imagine what would happen if we cannot make it within the time frame he expects it to be done? We will be in a huge mess.

I thought that him being Spaniard knows that it takes time but I was wrong.

    Cheers

    Ignacio

Here I just wanted to show you which level of effort the development of our carbon fibre products takes, you can surely build with less effort by copying the OEM parts and you are done, the problem is that the molds shrink and start to distort .. and when you start producing parts they will not perfectly fit, you will then face issues when you try to mount them … we develop the parts by scanning the car and then modeling in 3D on real data, then we built the alloy molds and that guarantees a 100% fitment.

    1) The car is being scanned, with OEM parts and having the OEM parts removed so that we can scan also the parts that may be covered (like stubs or mounting points) which we may need as we do our own parts with a Capristo design. That’s how we avoid collisions.

Working with carbon fiber can't be easy from what I have seen, even using the pre-preg stuff. My hat is off to Capristo for even producing these parts at all for owners, in the first place.

Raul seems like a nice guy, I've been following his posts since he joined, but I think he might be new to the world of owning Ferraris.

Raul, if you are still reading this thread and haven't been banned by Rob yet, my suggestion is to think of Ferrari, your dealership and the small group of parts suppliers more like extended family, as opposed to anything else. Everyone generally tries to help everyone else, but these are still low production cars in the big scheme of things. That's what makes Ferrari a car you can fall in love with vs. something like a Toyota, which you just drive.

I've installed a number of carbon fiber parts and even in the best of cases, it's usually never an exact, flawless fit - so I think maybe you were expecting a bit too much to begin with. It's just a car; one day someone else will be driving it anyway. I recently installed some "bolt-on" carbon fiber air ducts on my Yamaha R1 and that took me two full days of fabrication to make the parts even remotely fit correctly haha! So much for "bolt on" :)

Anyway, we all have bad days (I used to be the king of it!) and get hot under the collar about things. I didn't read every email between you and Capristo, but from what I gather, you were a little out of line and asking maybe too much of the company. If that's the case, just apologize and work it out privately and let's all move on.

Life is short. Enjoy your car in good health; nice to see the people from Capristo on the forum also.

    Ray

Ray has pretty much summed it up in a very eloquent way.

Like I mentioned before in other posts, when both parties get together and talk, there's no good reason why differences can't be ironed out.

I have used various parts from Capristo in the past: always very happy with customer care and the product itself.

Antonio: bravissimo lavoro! Davvero impeccabile. Auguri!

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.
