I will fully admit to being a car snob. I am sorta anti-American car. I don't like the element.

My main car is the Huracan. It's my favorite of all of them.

Yep, the first thing we did to the GTR was exhaust. Sounds so much better now!

We just ordered new wheels. They were designed by Jotech specifically for the GTR. Front weight 19 lbs, back 20. The GTR is a black track pac with blue stitching so we're doing the blue wheels. Should look awesome!

A 991 GT3 that Jana has is a far cry from the 997 you had.

More importantly, a huge congrats Jana, I have a new found respect for you! ;) possibly, the time has come to go out and purchase one of your books! ;)

Any updates Jana?! Or are you out on the roads actually driving your GT3, unlike it being at the shop all the time like your 360 was? :)

Yes! Been driving the heck out of it. The weather has been awesome here and we can take the GT3 more places than the Huracan. I am still so impressed with the handling of the car. I know, I know, I read everything you guys said and believed you but you still have to go cornering at high speeds yourself to really get it. Amazing engineering. And so smooth and comfortable. I was really surprised at how comfortable the ride is and the 18-point seats are awesome. Also love the leg room.

The relief at being rid of the 360 was so incredible. I don't think I realized exactly how stressed I was over it. Now, we go out to the garage and think "what do we drive today." It's awesome. :)

Pound per pound, it's hard to beat Porsche. I just don't like Porsche people. I took a Porsche to a show once and had one guy tell me the value stems have to line up with the crest. I just looked at him. What do you say to that?

How do the transmissions compare? How about ride comfort on bumps? How about compared to gtr? Thanks and enjoy.

The transmission on all the cars is superb, but I think the Huracan is probably the smoothest in automatic. You hear the gears change but you feel absolutely nothing. The GT3 is dangerously close as is the GT-R, which was far ahead of everyone else at the time in terms of technology.

The ride between the GT3 and the Huracan are very similar as far as bumps go. There's more road noise on the GT3 with the removal of sound deadening, which is very similar to the GT-R (I have a track pack). The seats in the GT3 are the most comfortable of any of them (I have the 18 point adjustable) and there's plenty of legroom. The GT-R also has plenty of leg room but the seats are the least comfortable. The Huracan has the least amount of legroom and it's the only thing I'd change on the car if I could. The ride on the GT-R is the roughest of all the vehicles. I was really surprised with the ride on the Huracan and GT3. I expected both to be a lot rougher but they are both incredibly smooth.

I have found it interesting that while the driving experience of each is somewhat different, a lot of it is also the same. Given that you've got NA versus turbo, rear/mid/front engine cars, AWD/2WD - it amazes me how good the engineering is to create similar performance within such differences. The GT-R is still the quickest (0-60) but the Huracan is right on top of it. But I think the thing I was most surprised by is the cornering on the GT3. I expected good, but I didn't expect it to hold the ground as well as an AWD car and it does. Another thing that really impressed me was the power on the Huracan. I was doing 101 mph on the highway (felt like cruising at 55) and got a huge clear stretch, so I punched it and the car leapt forward as if it had been sitting still. Amazing power and the sound is awesome, which goes without saying.

Altogether, I am thrilled with my garage. There's something for every driving condition, parking challenge, and mood.

Like the old joke... what is the difference between a porcupine and a Porsche?

I guess I shouldn't stereotype because I've met some Ferrari people who were real jerks and some cool Porsche, but on average, I have found Ferrari owners don't have as much of a chip on their shoulder. I guess owning a Ferrari means you never have to be defensive about your car. :)

Good un! I had to google the answer, but this one is a keeper.

great review, thank you. I loved the gtr transmission when I got my 1st one when 1st came out. but after trying pdk and Ferrari dct, I felt gtr needed big trans update. works ok on the street or track as long as use paddles but hopeless when driven hard in auto mode. the others know just when the shift, hold gear, etc whereas gtr computer gets very confused. also needed a 7th gear badly
ride on gtr was better than my 997 gt3 and quieter too. I think Porsche has made big headway into comfort without compromising handling at all. surprised you don't feel lambo is most comfortable though. I heard its got a great ride at the expense of track handling but haven't driven one yet.

    enjoy your awesome stable!

I agree, the gtr is the roughest on automatic. The others are clearly ahead. The Lambo seats and legroom are not nearly as good as the GT3. The ride is smooth, probably a bit better than the gt3, but not a big difference that I can tell.

Now that you have joined the dark side, you have to get some seat time in an older 911.
The unique driving dynamic that is 911, has been neutered in the 991.

I don't know. If it's jerky like the F1 on my 360, basically anything single clutch or that feels like it, I think I'm over it. I've gotten old and me and my bad back like smooth and easy. I fully admit to all of that. LOL

    That's not it at all.
The 997 I had was as smooth as the 991.
The difference is how they feel entering different types of turns.
The 991 has much better front end grip without having to do any of the trail breaking tricks you had to do with the 997.

In short, the earlier cars under-steer like a pig, unless you know the technique required to drive them.
The 991 feels like a normal car.

You really need to drive one to get a feel for the history of the 911. They are different from anything else I have driven. Not bad, but definitely different.

bah, 997 gt3 is most over rated car in history. or so says my 4 yr, 40000 miles, 50 track days of ownership.

    991 all day long

Fred- depends what you imply by 'early 911s'? My old school '73 911 is known for oversteer, like all rear weight biased 911s but that's the fun - you rotate the rear on turns to face front towards apex then mash the pedal. The GT3s without traction are the same (I had a 996 GT3), while mid-engine boxsters/caymans are dull since they are so planted and sure-footed.

I'm not a fan of understeer. If I pushed the 360 hard, it had some. I'm constantly adjusting my kart to get rid of understeer.

You guys crack me up though. These age old arguments of the best car never end. I think perhaps the answer is different for everyone. I am very happy with the GT3, but my favorite is the Huracan. I can't even go into the garage without breaking out in a huge grin.

It will never end because it's the best argument in the world. There's zero wrong answers and nobody loses. Finding like minded people (like yourself) to argue this type of thing with is one of the greatest parts of the internet imho. I enjoy talking to everyone here about cars.
