Cosworth V10 (2005 engine) limited to 16500 is good for 5000km IIRC.

You can not assume any component of a show car is safe for use. Are suspension components from race stock or are they for show? Are components parts that didn't meet QA? The tub may have been purposely weaken to insure it can NEVER be modified for use.

If this car could be modified to run,... It wouldn't be $100k.

Show cars do not automatically use actual race tubs. I guess some could, but a lot are just fiberglass with carbon weave overlays and made completely for looks and nothing more. The actual race parts they may use are spare rotors, wheels, and some suspension parts, but the rest would be completely replicated one-off fiberglass/plastic construction.

Here's an example of a fiberglass one use by BMW Sauber for promotional purposes: http://www.heritage-f1.com/cars/2006-bmw-sauber-f1-05-show-car/

Gentlemen, also one thing to note, in that the engine and tranny provided the "scale model" or real car torsional rigidity to the frame (twisting); so IF the car has been without these two components and if it has been lifted via mobile crane with nylon slings or turned on its side for a wall mount, it could be the frame is not "squared."

    If I were a buyer, I'd pay $25K.

Given that any singular piece of F1 memorabilia (nose, wing, wheels, tires, etc) can go for many thousands, I think anything around 25K or perhaps 30KUSD would be a fair price.

$25k is a little light IMHO. Here's a link to a place that will build you any static F1 showcar you want for about $27k:

    http://www.formulafactory.com/FORMgallery1.htm

but those are technically unlicensed models (so you probably violate copyright laws if you apply all the factory and sponsor logos) and don't have the factory provenance. A real factory show car like the one the OP posted is probably worth more, and a Ferrari more than most. I'd say it's priced fairly at $75k or so.

    Thanks for the link.

Given your info, I'd revise my number to 40KUSD.

I just could not spend a penny more on a non working model.

However, about 20 years ago Ferrari of Beverly Hills had a complete V12 engine (minus drive train, of course) for $50K. That was a BIG missed opportunity.

You are right, the crank case height makes an F 140 V12 seem impossible to adapt.

It's worth about 50 bucks. Why anybody would hang them on the wall is beyond me?, their only purpose is to enable your to sit in and make very loud "brim, brim" noises and look like a complete and utter tosser.

So yeah if you want to occasionally sit in a stationary F1 car and have a wank, yeah buy it ;)

I think it would look cool hanging on the wall. There used to be a motorsports-themed restaurant in Orlando called Race Rock. It was very cool with all the race bikes, cars, boats, etc, hanging from the ceilings and wall. Sure, it would be nice if they could come back to life and be at the track but it's not always feasible. Too bad it's just another Olive Garden there now. :(
