I was watching a video on youtube and in it, the 599 HGTE they had needed a wireless key card to be present for the car to start, or else the car is apparently reported as stolen.....

Wireless key card is at around 1:52 in the video below

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EbXgHyk418

Mine doesn't have this and this (mine isn't a HGTE too) is the first time I have heard of it. (also didn't realise the sat nav gave you turns on the screen by the rev counter, as I have never even used my sat nav nor radio lol)

Am I right in assuming the security key card was just an option which could be ticked? Or was it something for the HGTE

    Thanks

Didn't see anything about a wireless key card in the video. Did notice that he couldn't be bothered to set his tire pressures and did the test with a "Low tire pressure warning" on the dash.

The device is for the tracker, if the car is moved without the card being present it sends an alarm to the tracker centre, they then call you to verify that all is ok if it is not ok they can / do call the police who will chase it down. Little more sophisticated than that but same basic idea. Standard on new ferrari cars in the uk. If you do not have one it can effect your insurance

    Often standard in Europe.

Did you go to around 1:52 in the video ?

Ah so its often standard in Europe/the UK.

Is it common on US cars ?
