Here is a little something, (or long something depending on how much time you have to read and comprehend what he is saying), that my friend and colleague has taken the time to put together. It's well thought out and goes over paint care. I think everyone should give it a read, hence why I am posting it here for everyone to take a look. One of the key aspects that stood out to me is the right side of the picture, the PPF with the coating and just how thick it actually is. Gives perspective as to how and why clear bra and coatings are necessary to maintain the cars in pristine condition, and to keep factory paint on the panels!

He and I have very similar models and mindsets!

Thanks for posting this, I think its spot on. I have seen the Modesta on cars at cars and coffee, and it looks great as do many other professional and non-pro coatings.

By chance do you install Modesta? I am curious if you can compare it to something I am familiar with? I have used Nanolex, Gyeon Mhos, Opticoat 2.0, Gloss coat, Cancoat, Polish Angel Viking coat, Polish angel Cosmic v1, Exo v1 and v2 and cquartz.

I have not used any coating that has been bad, and each has it strong points and weaknesses (in my opinion). Some look like hard candy, other like wax, some are more mar resistant, others apply easily and other its a bit trickier. Some have a long work time and others shorter. Some bead, some sheet, some bead then sheet as they age. Some are more self cleaning, others require more work to clean and maintain the film.

I wonder with a product with Modesto, is there a huge benefit that comes with the Premium? What does it do so much better? I am not a dealer and don't carry anyone coating. I buy for the job and prefer to keep trying new products until I find one that is everything I am looking for. I base my next product I use be reading the detailing boards, and listening to the guys I have seen tell it like it is, and whom I have come to trust along with what I see out in my community on peoples cars and how it ages over time.

So far, loads of REALLY good products, I am never going back to wax or sealant, but no coating I consider perfect. MI wish I could mix the products together to form the best of the best coating by attribute. Maybe it will never come, maybe I am just too particular?

I can pretty much get 18-24 months out of the coating I listed. Some require some maintenance type products (either a wash or a spray type detailer infrequently) to maintain the hydrophobic effects, and others it just wash and enjoy.

I would like a super glossy, slick coating that was super mar resistant, beaded like crazy for 36 months, did not need a maintenance product to top up, did not water spot, that did not cost more than $ 70 bucks for 50 ml vial which enough to do a regular size car with 2 layers to ensure proper and complete coverage and could be used on paint and clear coated wheels.

You are never going to find a coating like which you described for the price you want. The complexity of which you listed would take a lot of time to create driving the price through the roof. Every coating is both good and bad to a certain degree, like you stated, but I agree, waxing is a thing of the past!

Modesta is very expensive when it comes to BC04, BC0-5, or the PD label. We are talking $300+ per application. Cquartz and Gyeon and the rest fall in the 90 to 125 range. So as you can see, there is actually more profit from installing the others instead of modesta. However, Modesta BC04 is simply the best looking, easiest cleaning, most durable coating you will have installed (pro detailer only, not available over the counter like everything else is).

If you were to see a car done with Modesta, and one done with say Gyeon or Cquartz, ceramic pro, etc, you will notice a difference...Modesta scratches less easily, looks thicker and deeper, and has a candy like effect that is inorganic and will not oxidize on you which means with simple washing, and proper maintenance, 3-10 years expected durability will be seen (less with more used cars, more with less frequently driven/used cars)

I would urge you to go visit a Modesta installer by you to see the difference in person. Out of all the clients cars we have done, every single one of them emails me saying how everyone they show it to comments on how nice it looks and asks if it was just repainted.

Not to mention, another chemist of another brand straight up told me Modesta is the best all around coating, but theirs was better than everyone else's. For the chemist of a coating company to come out openly and say his wasn't as good, but it was a close second was pretty awesome to hear. I appreciated the honesty!

I have tentatively arranged to have a detailer come out and do paint correction and apply a Modesta coating. I am still somewhat hesitant. I have always used Zymol waxes and have used Zymol's Vintage high end wax for the last 10 years. Since it cost $2000 and I get a lifetime of free refills, I am even more reluctant to switching.

I have always bought into the notion of using more organic waxes and paint treatments. Some refer to this as "feeding" or nourishing your paint. This is why I never liked the Zaino Brothers system that was popular some years ago.

Can someone who has used high end wax and now switched to a coating opine on this for me?

What are the concerns/issues with the Zaino products?

I found a "yellowing" over time.
