Is it possible? Would prefer a coupe of course due to winter driving conditions here in New England. Yes, will use all-weather tires (leaning toward snow/heavy rain).

    Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

    Enjoy the Drive,

    Steven,
If I understand you correctly, you are looking for a Ferrari daily driver for 25k. Is that correct, or are you entertaining other options?

    Dave,

Have aftermarket rims on the Euro 308GTS here now and ALSO HAVE the stock rims/tires and HAVE entertained getting the stock rims/tires studded. But i guess i want a dedicated car as a "beater" (for lack of a better term).

    Enjoy the Drive,

    Steven R. Rochlin

PS: A Mondial would do nicely. Anyone have one for sale? Also, JUST placed a WANTED ad on FerrariAds.com :)

There was a gold 3.2 Mondial coupe for sale out in California for $26K a while back. It's very high mileage (100k+ as I recall) but apparently had complete service history. I suspect it's still for sale and could be bought for significantly less. If you're interested post in the SoCal area, I'm sure they know the car.

You should be able to get a decent 2V 308 in that price range. The engine is basically over the rear tires for weight in the snow, put 4 studded snows on and off you go!

Agreed Rob. Let's see what happens. Am in no rush and can wait to find the right car. Of course will not let the right car stroll past either.

Personally I would be hesitant to drive a mid engined in harsh snow. A 400 would work very well though.

PS I thought this thread was offtopic until i read a few posts down. :)

Plus would'nt have to wait so long in the winter for the tranny to warm up if you got the autobox.

Mondials do well in the snow. Been there done that. Don't forget about 308GT4s
In the new EVO magazine just out they do a comparison of a GT4, Mondials and a 400. Might be worth a read.

Don't know about a QV, but for probably that price or less you should be able to get a perfect Mondial 8. Better than getting a QV that needs work.
I have an 8 and am happy with it. You may have to swap out the wheels and tires for winter driving, as the pre-86's have those hard to get metric tires. Though, they do have a very aggressive tread.

    Enjoy the Search,

    Sam

Again I say 400 for a number of reasons:

    Chains no belts

    Lots of room, good trunk

    V12

    Chains

Earliest fcars with Abs (for winter)

    Did I say chains?

None of them. You're looking at old cars at this price point. Your winters have a lot of snow and ice, so you stand a good chance of wrapping it round a tree. That's if you can get it started in the first place. Rust will be an issue too. In all likliehood you will be the last owner of that car. Waste of a good Ferrari if you ask me.

    Kevin,

    >>> Your winters have a lot of snow and ice, so you stand a good chance of wrapping it round a tree.<<<

They are VERY good about maintaining the roads here and i WILL keep my Honda just in case. The Honda is completely "disposable". Studded tires for winter are a good solution.

    >>>That's if you can get it started in the first place.<<<

Correct electrical and fluids should easily solve this.

    >>>Rust will be an issue too.<<<

Agreed if the car has not been treated by Ferrari, though do plan on undercoating/coating certain parts.

    >>>In all likelihood you will be the last owner of that car.<<<

Thank you :) Have no plans to sell either summer or winter fcar.

    >>>Waste of a good Ferrari if you ask me.<<<

Will avoid taking that personally. To each their own and obviously we each have our feeling in this matter.

    Enjoy the Drive,

    Steven R. Rochlin

I'm going to change my answer from a 2V308 to A mondial 8. Since you already have a 308 you should get something diffrent and you can most likely get a Mondial 8 cheaper than a 308. I wouldn't consider the 400 as it has a significant weight bias in the front which is what you don't want for a winter driver.
