Very cool....Do they have documentation that the car is the correct chassis?? White pre A kinked window 356's are rare anyway. They did a great job on the lettering and Eva.

Understood. Thanks for posting it. Does anyone know the Porsche pre A 356 Pan Am chassis number at Retro or could they find out before Retromobile is over??? The Ferrari's at Retro are all well documented on several websites, but not this 356.

I saw that on another website with ILL 1953 plates, but I did not notice that on your original photo. I bet it is not the actual car that raced in the Pan Am or he would have been talking about it's history and how he found it. Still it looks very nice and is the correct model 356. Thanks for checking. I will check on the plate number. That's pretty old so who knows. Do you know what country the owner was from?

Here is a picture of the actual car at the Carrera Pan Americana. The mirror is wrong on the restored car, and this is the plate that was under the Pan Am plate. The car might have been imported via Illinois as one of the Porsche importers was in Chicago at the time. Driving lights were not on the car and the bumpers were different and it had no hood straps at the Pan Am.

The owner (?) of the car spoke a perfect French. I think it's not the real Panamericana car.

Is that Aurelia a restoration of the original car or just a reproduction?
