Unfortunately the car was parked on the side of the road early on today (first day of the event) witha mechanical. On the rumour mill I heard it broke a hub. Great looking car.

There are around 8 ferraris down here doing the tour event in an organised ferrari group.

Was displayed in Targafest in Launceston this evening and left under its own steam (in spectacular fashion) after being brought back into town on a flattop. Hopefully something simple which is fixed. Aside from the Ferrari Aus tour group, David Gilliver and Shellshear are competing in their 308 and my FIAT presidential friend and I are having a great time in Targa Tour in my 308. Fabulous 475km today including Sideling and Elephant Pass.
Here's the car yesterday all scrutineered and stickered up before it got dirty today! (stupid iPad rotation!)
Thanks to Alan Bloore (Hammer) from FCA Queensland for suggesting this adventure to me!
And special thanks to Fchatter Tassie who offered backup assistance for what turned out to be a small problem solved before we arrived.

Did you have a drama yesterday? Pretty sure I saw your car parked up at the start of the sideling, and then saw it come in late to St Helens lunch? Unless there is another similar car!

It was pretty wet and slippery yesterday!

No drama with the car just missed a turn on transport stage so missed our packet and had to wait for all the competitors to go through before they'd release us up Sideling. All good and we had a great day! What car are you in? Say hi next time you see us!

By a stroke of luck ended up following this car back into launceston today. Obviously fixed. I must say it looks fantastic on the road

Also today we were sitting around waiting to start the stage when the ferrari tour went through. The sound of 8 or so ferraris going full throttle throuh the stage all at once was rather nice (and loud).

Spoke to the owner at car wash this afternoon - problem turned out nothing more than a loose wheel nut; all good and delighting the crowds.
    Great fun around Georgetown today.

Fabbo! Guess who forgot to turn their camera on... doh!
Another great day today although I found Cethana very stressful as the trees and sun angle meant I couldn't see the road half the time!

Gonna be a cold one tomorrow no doubt! Stay safe out there! Will keep an eye out for the 308 at TargaFest in Hobart on Friday night if you're in attendance. :)

interesting how the Ferrari "sideslip control" lets you look like a hero, but only up to a certain point (2:14 in the clip) where the laws of physics take over and the mass at the back of the car does its thing.

Yeah, that's about a 150 degree hairpin, so it needed a little more control than that. Everyone tries to hang it out there, but if your car is set up for Targa, it just grips and goes

The black LaFerrari is out of the Targa Tasmania tour, the car is OK, organisers apparently not happy with the driving..

Do all the LaFerrari's have SSC? I didn't realise this was electronic aids controlling the torque to stabilize the car. It looked like corrective steering and good (aggressive) throttle control. Either way I'd say he's having fun with the car!

    Wow...

Yes, but the SSC marketing name (for what everyone else calls stability control) hadn't been created in 2013.

If you watch the inside shots, you'll see that the Manettino is in "Sport", which means it lets the rear move around quite a bit before intervening. My 575 does the same thing in Sport mode, it makes you feel good but the problem is that you're not gaining the "muscle memory" that's needed to slide a car or recover it when the limit is crossed.

Oh, and it rips the rear tyres up :)

In the Tour, there are some pretty strict rules, and all competitors have to be extra lawful and courteous when on a transport stage.

yep and yep. Quite a few (on 'tours' other then the general Targa Tour, I might add) were warned yesterday, mainly about 'sandbagging'; the packet leaders were not amused.

Another great day today, but freezing rain soon after we arrived in Strahan, so glad we got all stages complete in pretty dry conditions before getting over this side.
