In the Targa Tour, cars are released in groups of about ten (packets), with a leader to ensure the 130kph limit is adhered to. Some hang back and then close the gap at speed to have a bit of a yippee, but against the rules. Tour cars lack a lot of the safety equipment that competitors' cars have, so are restricted. I'm not sure if the tour cars have a Rallysafe installed, but if they do, the organisers will be alerted the instant a speed limit is breached.

    Well find a bloody minute,it say's 'posted speed limit'...plus

    Level 2 non speed license.

The TSD category has a 130kph limit and is competitive, the tour is not.

Tour regs for general Targa Tour ( not private Porsche Ferrari Stokkel Lotus or Rallye) are: posted speed limit for transport stage; 130kph for stages but non-competitive, strictly no overtaking, crowding or sandbagging on stages.

I think there is some confusion here as to which part of the road is a 'through stage' and which part constitutes a 'stage'. The closed roads extend beyond the actual timed section and that is what that reg referred to applies to, I think. All I can say is, we've had a great time :)

A friend of mine was the tour leader for the ferrari section of the tour, ie he was the one driving the car leading the tour through. I was speaking to him about speeds. During the stages the maximum tour speed is definitely 130kmh. However, they moderate the speed based upon the skills and behaviour of the drivers in the group to ensure safety.

For very large parts of the course the speeds are well under 130kmh, even for the fastest competition cars.

To demonstrate this point, the fastest car in the Gt sports trophy part of the competition (car 163 Morton and Neagle) came in 33rd position out of all cars in the event. Ie car 163 was limited to 130kmh but came 33rd even against cars with unlimited top speeds. That just reflects the fact that it tight windy and wet stages, the 130kmh limit is often irrelevant

    ?????????????

Well done for completing the event.

So the written rules are only there to be ignored by the event organisers?
