Interesting thought. Clearly FA has an amazing fire for competition. LH has a competitive spirit but wonder if this is all a bit boring now in the paddock. He has places to go, people to meet and F1 pays those bills and maybe, is less the center of his life. He has enough titles for a legacy and does he need F1 now? Hmmmmm....Nico sent him a clear message about how easy it is to leave. You just do it....
Massa was asked to come back and accepted. LH might be understanding now that there is more to life than F1 like Nico has said.
So after one bad result Ham needs to call it a day? Really? Why are there so many people who want to see 2 of the fastest drivers (Alo and Ham) out of the sport? Who should we replace them with? More Stroll and Palmer no hopers?
Interestingly, in an one on one interview during the UK's Channel 4 coverage, Hamilton was asked about the possibility of him breaking Schumacher's record of 7 WDC's, and if that was important to him, to which he said it wasn't. He added that the only records he'd ever really looked at was Ayrton Senna's, and that it seemed quite surreal to think that he was now starting to go beyond some of Senna's records. Then he added that maybe F1 will keep him interested enough to remain in the sport for another 4 or 5 years or maybe more, but he said: "Maybe I will get to the end of this season and decide I want to do other things now." He said that at the moment he is more than happy with his life, both on-track and off-track, but said that things can change pretty quickly so you never know. When it was put to him that this could be some sort of exclusive announcement that he's considering retiring at the end of the year, he quickly clarified the situation by saying: "I didn't say that I was considering quitting at the end of the year.....I said that I don't really think about how long I will remain in the sport, I just know that when the time is right and other things become more important to Me, then I'll walk away, be it at the end of the year or in the next 4 or 5 years, whenever"
I don't want them to leave personally unless they start driving like crap. But, there are a lot of good racing drivers not in F1. A lot of great drivers coming up through the ladder. So implying that they will get replaced with guys like Palmer and Stroll isn't accurate. We also don't know where Stroll will end up at this point. Palmer definitely seems like a bust so far.
Who is he dating currently? He just seemed out of sync the entire weekend to me. That's taking nothing away from a brilliant drive by Bottas. I think he'll be in this thing up to the very end. Still taking Vet or Ham to win it all (depending on car development, mostly), but maybe Valterri Bottas will continue to enter his name into the fray.
I was actually quietly thinking about a race last year when there was a 2nd formation lap, and Ferrari really struggled on that start compared to their other starts that season. Also that extra lap to get temperatures in surely must've worked well for Mercedes. No conspiracy to me but just an observation why it may have worked in Merc's favour a little. I whatsapped it to some friends during formation lap 2...
When I saw Alonso parking his car during the formation lap, I immediately thought that it was a deliberate move. Maybe he didn't want to race at the back of the field at Sochi, and also wanted to make a point about the Honda unit. We don't know the struggles behind close doors at McLaren. I suspected sabotage immediately. Alonso had nothing to loose and everything to gain by making a big show of Honda's incompetence.
The rumor is that Alonso parked his car with 2 laps to go at Bahrain because he didn't want to finish last. He didn't want to finish at all to show Honda up.
He admitted later his start was slightly poor. Check the replay he bogs down slightly off the line and this allows bottas to get closer
Oh, did he??? SV: "I had a good start but " I was going to ask about that. You were a bit unlucky, both of you, on the front row of the grid but you have the longest run to the first corner but you got out-dragged? SV: "Yeah, thats basically it. I think our start was basically a match with Valtteri, maybe he gained a bit of momentum in the beginning but then obviously he had a massive tow. I defended the inside but by the time we approached braking he was already in front and able to shut the door on me, so well done, and thats where he won the race. And then he did a superb first stint, I couldnt stay with him, he was very, very quick all; race, no mistakes and as I said man of the race." https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/russian-gp-post-race-press-conference-900574/ Check your facts instead of making false statements...
"Maybe e gained a bit of momentum at the start" indicates to me that Vettel thinks his start was slightly poor. At the very least he is admitting it was not perfect and in f1 every tenth matters. Vettel never likes to admit he is at fault but if you watch the start replay yourself you'll see his getaway is worse than bottas and he bogs down
What the hell did you do not understand at "I had a good start..."??? Vettel does not like to admit a fault??? But Lewis does??? You are getting ridiculous!!! You call others haters against Hamilton but please watch yourself against Vettel...You are worse than anybody else here...
Check the footage before you accuse others of false statements: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyGqSN9hJ3k (From 0:10 onwards) My monies on David Coulthard knowing a s:censored:t load more than you do when it comes to getting an F1 car off the line!
I was watching the C4 transmission and DC did indeed say Vettel bogged down when they were showing the replay during the race - shame he's not with Brundle, they made a great combo picking up different things. Best, Sammy
