I'm looking for the correct r-134a refrigerant amount with which to charge the system. There must have been a sticker at some point due to federal mandate, right? I don't see one on mine, so must assume it rubbed off. I know the compressor changed between years, so looking specifically for a 1997 if possible.

I have a 1997 456GT and I just looked carefully under the hood, but couldn't find any such sticker.

Incidentally my AC compressor (Harrison) was rebuilt and the system recharged just a month ago. It seems the technician who did the work knew the amount of refrigerant to use without having that information provided anywhere in the vehicle. Perhaps they can pressurize the system until it reaches a known value that is standard across most platforms? Or maybe he found the needed information on the online repair database workshops connect to?

Sorry, I wish I could be of greater assistance.

Those pesky OMs. 2.86 lbs or 1300 grams. Shows the amount of oil, too.

I could change the title to: "OM, the book no one ever gets" I didn't get one with the car. I can fill based on pressures, but it's super easy to vacuum everything out and fill to a fixed amount. Thanks for the help

Owners manuals are easily obtained and I would never dream of having the car without one. Neither did Ferrari.

It holds 1.3 kg of R134a and there is no federal requirement for a sticker.

    1.3 kg does not = .59 lbs.

I am not aware of it being changed.

My other half is a Pharmacist and pretty adept at the metric system. We were at the catacombs outside of Rome and there was a sign "Quo Vadis 1500m". She asked how far that was. I replied "Oh just about a kilometer and a half". She never asked for a conversion to miles.

Chris- The OM you want is 1098/96, US MY 97 456 GT and GTA, Part Number 95990201. Maranello Classic Parts has a Ferrari authorized copy, not an original, for 23 pounds sterling.

Depending on where in the world you are. Here in Aus, 1.3kgs caused too high a pressure. 950g is what we charge to.

I have charged many and never run into that. Sounds like a system with too much oil.

thanks fellas. Vacuumed for a few hours yesterday, it held the vacuum for a few hours, so charged to 1300g. I feel spoiled now, because the 308 has cool air but hardly any flow/volume, so the 456 is quite a leap in comfort. Lot's of cold air.
