G'Day everyone, I finally found my dream Modena (Rosso Fiorano with light beige interior). One problem tho. I'm 29 years old and struggling to find an insurance provider willing to insure me. My driving record is perfect. The best quote I received so far is $3,600 per year. Do you have suggestions on what insurance company I should reach out to and what kind of policy should I get? Thanks
Try American modern home insurance You can use this agency - http://www.classicins.com/ Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
Is this your only car? You can go through Hagerty or any of the other specialty insurance companies and do a limited use plan. I have been driving Ferraris since my 20's and my premiums have been ~$1K/yr. with State Farm. And I'm not exactly perfect, but no accidents.
Grundy and others offer collector policies, but yes you have to show that the car is not a DD or even a backup to your DD. And from my experience living in Toledo for 10+ years, what part of Toledo you live in has a major impact on $$. My insurance doubled when I lived near UT. Beyond that, Ohio is one of the best states for insurance prices, I cant imagine anyone paying 3600/year there.
Hey Dino, Thanks for your comment. I have a Porsche and it's insured through my company policy. Hagerty said "No" as I'm not over 30 lol Weird stuff how they discriminate against age even tho my driving record is perfect Grazie
Thanks Matt, I'm in the Washington Local so the area is very decent. I'll check out Grundy for sure. Thanks again
Why not insure it at the current best offer you got, and once you're 30, you get a new, better deal? You're buying a Ferrari after all, surely $3600 isn't going to break your back at this point in time unless I'm missing something...
Ok good, that is a nice area. I got to the point where I was nervous driving my Z06 around Toledo...the trashy, jealous mindset seems to be growing there as the city goes further down the crapper. Here in GA, I pay $1200/yr for both the 360 and the Z06. Grundy does't have any mileage limitations or anything like that. Hagerty was like $1600 for the 360 alone with all kinds of limitations, so don't feel bad that you can't go with them. Because that's ridiculous. You don't get to the point of owning a Ferrari by wasting money. 99% of the time insurance is just throwing money away anyway, why would you do that? I don't care if I'm a millionaire, if I don't have to waste money, I won't. I'll keep looking until I find the best (maybe not the cheapest) deal.
I'm totally with you on that, just wondering how much less it would be for him once he hits 30. If the difference is a thousand bucks, it's a situation similar to mine. I was able to insure through work and got coverage for around $2000. Had I not been able to do this, it would have been about $3000 through my (then) existing insurance company. But it wasn't this that was going to stop me from buying my first Ferrari as I felt I was way overdue anyway (still kick myself for not having bought several years earlier). Anyway, the idea of buying and waiting to insure it could be an option, as is insuring through a parent as mentioned by 360 Canuck above me (assuming he really cannot wait and must get the car now). Knowing what I know now, I personally wouldn't wait anymore (already procrastinated about it for too many years). Life is too short at times.
$3,600 is just ridiculous I just got a few more quotes for much less so I'm considering one of those. Thanks
I moved to the US from Australia and I absolutely loved the mentality here of pretty much everyone until I saw what Toledo is like lol In most parts of the country people admire, praise and enjoy in your success. In Toledo, it's quite different. There is a tonne of jealousy here and envy. Really sucks but "hey", my business is good and that is going smooth Toledo is actually pretty similar to Australia. If you drive a nice car in OZ, your automatically classified a drug dealer or a scammer of some sort hehe Thanks for your help ps. I was just in Atlanta on Monday for business and I don't like your traffic delays. What's the go with that bridge collapsing and everyone blaming a homeless dude lol
Thanks I just got a few other quotes I'll keep everyone posted with who I decide to with and how much they charge Thanks again
I'm 27 and with Statefarm for my 2003 360, 2004 Gallardo, 4 corvettes, and 8 other cars, my yearly is only around $14k I believe my 360 is around $1500/yr.
Pardon me for asking, but at 29 years old and buying a 360, what do you do? Just curious. I'm 28, almost 29 and I'm trying to work towards buying a 360 or F430. If you don't wanna share that info, that's fine. I'm just curious.
Even if he sold toothpicks or toilet paper for a living, if he sold enough of it, he'd become very successful. Just as a degree or certain line of work/job does not guarantee success. Remember, it's not just what you do, it's how well you do it. Focus on doing something better than everyone else doing it in your area/state/country and you'll find the money follows faster than you'll know how to spend it.
I'm 32 now and was in a similar boat; had a 996tt at 25 then added the 360 just before I turned 27. Had geico before and they said they would cover the 360 for 6 months in Columbus oh for cheap like $700 annual rate, but the dropped it like they said the would bc my age only (zero accidents/claims ever).switched to State Farm and the broke insurance laws and dropped me without even 30 day notice 1 week in (I filed regulatory complaints over this). Had to do hagarty for the 360 for $1500 then rest to geico, and about a year later convinced geico to add the 360 back and they are cheap for it (but require a custom quote). Had then until this year when I switched our current 6 cars to Grundy which is underwritten by aig (who refused to cover me directly at 2x the cost without also doing Ho). Grundy is fantastic and super cheap if you do 3+ cars and have collector cars (with no mileage limits). Eta: I am in SE MI now and let me tell you overall to be thankful for OH insurance and registration fees. Insurance is generally 2x as high as Ohio and the registration fees suck --- Im at $2500 annually for tags for 6 cars - oh it's $35 for any car
Following this thread as I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger to buy a 360 at 27. Currently paying right around $1,200/yr for my MB GLC and BMW M3 in Utah Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes do a specialty company like Grundy or Condon Skelly, which I have. I even got an agreed value upgrade since my 348 was totaled by a distracted driver last year. I built in 15K appreciation. Voicey's market watch has the 360 Spider up around 3.8% in one year. Price is similar to those above but I have generous mileage allowance and urban location. Around $2,000 a year.
