Good deal, John. I forwarded it to another user here that may have a need. For those who don't know, John is a master rebuilder of these things, and only does so as a hobby/favor to us in limited quantities. Love the one you did for me with the uprated tie rod ends! Thanks again.

Is this rack for sale? I like it more than the other one.

These racks are all over eBay...not the one in the blouse... I put a $400 rack I bought on eBay on my 1980 6 years ago...no problem :)

P.S. If you need to know what size rack fits in your car, you'll have to get her in it first...Hehehehe

As far as I understand the ad, this is an old, rebuilt TRW rack. Those racks 'all over ebay' you mention, are mediocre chinese or indian crap.
Some time ago one FChatter dismantled one and measured the gear tolerances with catastrophic results. No thanks.

Those bushings are too soft. They'll allow for too much play in steering.

Jh I would like to purchase a rack. But. I wouldn't be able to measure mine for a while. I need to have my original one rebuild but for the price you are offering it would save time But I don't want to find out it isn't he right size. Any other way to know if it is the correct one for my car? Not familiar with rack dimensions. Thx

John (JH355) rebuilt the steering rack in my '75 GT4 plus new tie rod ends and it came out great. After replacing all the suspension and shock bushings it was obvious the rack needed to be rebuilt. I could have bought one that was rebuilt but I wanted to keep the original one to my car. He upgraded a few things in it but I kept the stock ratio. Whether he rebuilds yours or you buy one from him, he knows his stuff.

Man I had too many large kirin beers at sushi last night. What I'm trying to say is was there other lengths that were available ? Does that fit the gt4?

+1 on that. John rebuilt the rack on my '79 308 GTS, and it came out great!

    John,

My interweb skills are even worse, apologies in advance! I saw in another thread that you may have access to sway bar drop link bushings for a 1980 308 gtbi. I cannot find them anywhere! Do you have a source?
