Makes you wonder if these were the original cams with the timing retarded further* for more power at higher revs...

*I've always assumed the catalyst and non-catalyst cams were the same, with the later cars getting different timing to help peak power numbers... but I guess assuming is a bad idea, especially when it comes to the Italians. ;)

As far as I know the lift and duration are the same on "all" the cams. I haven't ever heard any different. The only difference is the timing and ecu mapping. Retarding the cams makes sence because the torque drops off a cliff at 6000rpm on my engine. So it may shift peak torque to 6200-6400rpm +/-, and move peak HP up to 7100-7400rpm. Our poor f119s are choked soooooo bad. Tiny intake valves, tiny throttle bodies, low lift/duration cams, tiny intake plenum size and runners, small injectors, and low revs. Give them the proper breathing, fuel, engine management, and revs will make them 400hp+ engines all day long.

Sure, but you could apply that to anything really.

Everything is choked until it reaches F1 levels of specific output :D

Go to know. Thanks. I'd still like to see part numbers for the GTB/GTS cams but I've never seen a parts book for those models. I think it's a good assumption that the cams are the same and the timing was changed as a result of the altered intake and the higher rev limit.

Does anyone know where the rev limiter is set on the GTB/GTS and if there were any internal changes to support the rev limit? The crank, rod, and valve springs seem to remain the same for US cars so I wonder if anything internal other than the compression ratio was changed.

Side note, since we're already way off-topic-- I checked the valve spring part numbers on Ricambi's site to see if they show any supercessions. The inner spring is listed at $80.72 and the outer spring is listed at a mere $36.93. So Ricambi's list on one set of springs is $117.65, meaning that if you wanted to replace the valve springs in your 32 valve V8 you'd be looking at a retail total of $3764.80. It's a good thing F119s aren't known for breaking valve springs...

F1 engines are choked too... if you want to rev them to 20k RPM.
