In serious condition with head and chest injuries. Hope he pulls through. https://www.motorsport.com/wsbk/news/motogp-hayden-serious-condition-road-accident-907085/
It always seems so crazy that someone who raced for years in such a dangerous sport ends up with such serious injuries doing something a lot of people do everyday. Prayers for your recovery Nicky.
+1 Bob Wolleck died at Sebring...by being hit by a motorist while riding his bicycle on a public road the week of the race. Big Nicky (and the rest of the Haydens) fan, hope he recovers well.
Praying for Nicky. This sucks. Hope the driver of the car is held accountable, if his actions caused this. Sent from my LG-H901 using Tapatalk
It's not looking good, Nicky has suffered severe brain damage.... Nicky Hayden in ?extremely serious? condition with severe brain damage | MotorSportsTalk
On a popular motorcycle forum (not populated by idiots or trolls as many are), a credible poster with ties to the region posted late today that he has been declared brain dead, and once the family arrives...well. Hopefully this is just rumors run amuck. Debated even posting anything lest I contribute to the problem. Literally praying for him.
I don't have a desire to ride a bicycle on public roads any more. Cars are too close going too fast. Even with a side bike edge. I'd rather ride on specific bike trails not attached to the shoulders. Robb
I don't have the link, but it was reported on FB that he had passed away from his injuries. However NO mention on the Moto-GP nor Atlas F-1 website so who really knows? Nevertheless, I'm very sorry to hear this as I was always rooting for him!
Thanks! I just found out the same thing! Bunch of Dumb##s's who think it's funny to spread false rumors!
update from Earl: Nicky is still alive but on life support. is not (and wasn't) in an induced coma. no mention of him being brain dead. Nicky Hayden: Earl Hayden Decries Fake News
Agreed. I feel much more exposed on a bike than motorcycle. with everyone texting it's just too easy to get hit. Still, incredible a moto GP guy gets hit on a bicycle. I hope he comes out of it ok. .
Nothing funny about it - it's all about money. They are relying on income from Google Ad-sense or similar products and there are fake / inflammatory news sites making in excess of $10K per month on this stuff. Not bad money to sit in Mom's basement and make stuff up. If it bothers you, as I think it should, complain to the advertisers and complain to the hosting company - in this case GoDaddy. Three days in....still in there, but very serious. I was at the Ducati Parts Counter and sure enough, they were mourning his passing. I set them straight and told them to pray....
Earl Hayden has clarified that he was never put into an induced coma, which I assume means he remains unconscious due to his injuries. As of Friday he also had not had surgery. The key point is if he can breathe on his own of not, I think I read he was being assisted in the first 24 hours. Not sure abouf now but like Schumacher you wonder if there was anything encouraging if that would be released.
Best to disregard all information unless it comes directly from the Hayden family or his treating doctors. There seems to be a lot of misinformation and conflicting information. Typically brain trauma patients are placed in an induced coma to "rest" the brain. If it is true that he hasn't been placed in an induced coma,… that would seem to be good news regarding brain status (since we are a few days out). Is he awake? Breathing unassisted? Is the spinal cord intact? We don't know. The lack of information is concerning. Lets face it,… if he had a broken shoulder and looked like he'd been in a UFC match,… but was watching TV,… the family would almost certainly make a statement. Another wild card affecting release of information could be the accident itself,… if there is any criminal case… there could be legal reasons to say vey little at this point. Bottom line: we know very little,… but the circumstances warrans great concern. Hoping for the best.
