All credit to Preds for gutsy, grinding win on the road in a series that is going beyond chippy.
Lol, I thought the same thing, but from the other perspective. But hey, I'm not about to engage a Canadian as to the finer points of hockey, especially a referee.
Will we have a game 7 in the Preds-Ducks series after tonight? I say no, Nashville ends it tonight and waits for Pitt to get by Ottawa
I think the ducks can stretch it to 7 but a little luck may be needed. Ottawa just got cleaned dont expect a win next game.
Especially when your bonehead coach makes a bonehead comment about your opponent being the best team on the planet
After not scoring a single goal on a powerplays all night, why pull the goalie when your only down by 1. So annoying!
That guy Sissons turned in one of the finest performances in recent playoff hockey. Too bad some idiot on the Ducks tried to start a fight with 6 seconds left in a 6-3 final game. No handshake for you! We'll see what the Sens are made of tonight.
They stunk up the joint the last two games. As I did with the Preds yesterday, I'm going with Pitt to end this tonight in 6......
I've never ventured this far down the forum... long time Preds fan (moved here in 1999 and adopted them as my new "home team"). I can't tell you how excited I am for the Cup! My company does a behind the scenes series with the Preds and getting to know these guys over the last three years has been a real treat. I can share a link to this season if anyone is interested. I won't spam the board with it... I hope we play the Pens. I want to play the best in the east and I really don't think Ottawa reflects that.
Hi Chad. Terrific piece in the Monday Sports of the New York Times on the Preds. Good luck on the finals. I'm pulling for you. Maybe catch up for a drink at Roberts or Third and Lindsley next time we're in your great city.
I watched a good chunk of the Ducks games and the last game was exactly what I saw throughout the playoffs -- inconsistency. Sometimes it just looked like they were just lost. Stupid penalties at the wrong time, broken defense, poor goal tending. Not all the time -- sometimes they looked brilliant-- but just enough to get beat, which they did last night. The fight with 5 seconds left is living proof of stupid play.
I understand the concept but an extra player had not helped them all night and as soon as they pulled the goalie it was over. They would have had 2.5 minutes to try and score instead they had 10 sec.
I understand. However, their chances of scoring with an extra attacker are greater. Nobody could have predicted that a Nashville player would throw a blind shot from his own hash marks that would end up dead centre of an empty net.
Mike. This is a fundamental change in coaching strategy that has really ramped up in this past year. In previous years, guys would get their asses chewed off if they iced a puck late in a game resulting in their own defensive zone face off. Coaches are willing to burn the few seconds, gets a few seconds rest for the D and then take their chances with the face off. If a blind shot goes in as it did in Pred's game 6 party's over
Did you have the same thoughts/feelings when the Ducks were down 3 goals to Edmonton, with 3 minutes left, and scored 3 times to tie the game, and all 3 goals were with the goalie on the bench? As I mentioned, I get what your saying, but having the extra attacker has multiple advantages: 1) increases your chances of scoring 2) wears down your opponent 3) increases the chances of your opponent taking a penalty as they are desperately chasing around the ice to get the puck out of the zone
