    C'mon....what was "crazy" about it?
He ran where he should have with what was under him. Wouldn't have expected anything less...

A wonderful month for Alonso. I'm so glad everybody involved put in the effort. It was magical . . . just not magical enough.

Great effort from Alonso. Had every chance of a victory. Shame his nemesis, Honda, blew up again...

Yep and double dnf at Monaco also. Vandorne will be getting butt hurt by the team at the moment for throwing his race with a stupid (Stroll like) crash on a restart. Would have been teams first points ....

+1 -- Really enjoyed having a driver to root for for a change, and even though a DNF he was legitimate top-3 all day (maybe all F1 World Champs should get a PGA-like exemption to run the Indy 500 ;))

"But another wins the 500..." ;)

Or more betterer: "Sato's Honda wins as Alonso's Honda breaks down"

Maybe Sato should drive F1 so a Honda could finish an F1 race!

    I can't believe Alonso's luck.

Understood, as most over there don't follow Indycar. So yes, the Alonso failure is pre-eminent. None the less, another Honda won the race. So it's more an Alonso joke than a Honda one... :)

Yes but Honda is gambling on reliability to do it. The sheer number of engine failures in this race as well as the last several tells you that your chance of finishing is at risk. They won the race but are killing the reason for race marketing. The PR has left them in the dust with the high profile drivers consistently not finishing. They don't make these engine in Japan no more than Chevrolet makes their engines in the US. They both use external custom shops to build and design a purpose built engine that uses their name solely for marketing reasons. They need to get on with the program.

The bottom line is Honda won. And they did against a Penske that was driven by one of the best Indianapolis 500 Mile Race drivers ever. Impressive! Of course, it's not their first Indianapolis 500 Mile Race win either. So maybe that's why it's a ho-hum result to you.
