When does Ferrari switch over model years? Is it August like most car manufacturers? Or later? Trying to time my Spoder delivery for next year and if possible would like to get a 2019 Spider for late summer or early fall delivery.

Timing may not exactly work out but just curious as to the model year switch over.

Middle to late July usually means a year change. My 488 Spider has a July 2016 build date and and was delivered to the dealer in Sept 2016 . It is a 2017 488.

Ok perfect. So if I get my spider in August of next year- very good chance it's a 2019 correct? Thank you.

I think it's based on build date, not delivery date, and it's possible an August delivery could be built in June, which might keep it a 2018. Best to tell your dealer your preference so they can work the date on their end (if they are able given the allocation structure). You might also consider that any increases in cost, if it matters, will normally occur during the model year changeover. (i.e. my 488 Spider has already had a $7K+ increase in the base price from 2016 to 2017.)

Only if it was BUILT in middle / late July or later. Doesn't really matter what month it was delivered.

Just prelimary right now. They tell me it's at least 12 months before delivery. White spider with carbon dash, red seats, black carpet. Lots of time to change.

I just ordered mine few weeks ago. It will be built in Jukly (Ferrari factory closed in August) and will get in October as a 2018.

It would make sense for the MY to be based on build date, regardless of when the car is actually delivered. Porsche for example change their model years immediately after the factory returns to work after the 3 week summer shutdown in August - anything built from Sept 2016 thru pre summer shutdown this year is a 2017 MY and 2018MY starts as soon as the factory starts up again after the holiday in late August 2017.

I don't know if Ferrari operate the same system but it would kind of make sense for this to be a logical time to advance the model years.

Also, I don't really see the MY as being overly important - yes there may be slight tweaks to items of standard specification in certain markets between model years, oh and of course a likely price increase!! - however any major spec changes will be reserved for the mid life facelift or whatever they choose to call it.

Dunno Graham, Ferrari is not so productive as f.i. Porsche.

During the holiday closure, all machines are tuned and/or revised so that they can start with new parts after the break.

Having visited the Factory last week it does'nt look that way in Maranello.

They seem to make only pre-sold batches. So now they make the TDF, 488 and Cali.

LaF and LafA were already made ...they may start on the 812 soon ...

    Big difference imo

Must be different in other places in the world. Our Ferraris don't go by date of build like other cars here. If its built 2017 and you get it 1st Jan 2018 its classified as a 2018 car.
Also our price when signing the contract is the price no matter what. I guess they have enough of a buffer over here. Im ordering a car with no carbon and several std extras and its $580 K AUD basically $430 K USD . We do pay a 33% luxury tax :(

We were just there a couple of weeks ago and there was indeed an 812 on the line. Not sure if it was a customer car or a press car but it was great to see one in the flesh.
