Will Alonso return to Indy next year?

  1. Yes he will insist

  2. Only if F1 is going badly for him again

  3. No team will let him quit Monaco for Indy

  4. He'll retire from F1 and find sponsorship

  5. It was a one time deal for McLaren

  6. McLaren is in this to stay with Alonso driving

  7. Some other F1 star will try next year

  8. I hope his car next year is a prettier color!

Not only that, there are few drivers that have the clout Alonso has to insist on it being his way or the highway. His Indianapolis adventure has only added to his contract power and his worldwide star power. Sponsors baby, sponsors!!

Why should Monaco move because of Indy???
If the guys from Indy want more drivers coming over it is their choice to move their date but why should F1 move to help other race series???

I am not sure the Indy set would gladly welcome plenty of F1 drivers at their star event.

One maybe, but not too many like in the 60s and 70s where half a dozen used to turn up.

I just watched the video of his speech at the Indy awards banquet. I am betting he will be back, but perhaps not next year. Contracts, schedules, sponsor commitments... this might have been a one off opportunity for him while under contract in F1. But it really seemed to me that he is heading back there at some point.

That said, if he is still at McLaren next year, and McLaren still sucks? Yes. He will be back next year.

Monaco is just a date on the schedule, Indy IS the month of May.
