We have spoken briefly here and there over the years, mainly at National FCA meets. I like him.

Like I said, his contributions to this forum are golden. I'll take any insult in trade without question. If getting called a ****ing ******* is all it takes to find out which is the absolute best part to use and where to find it, so be it.

In boot camp, my Gunny said things to me so vile and demeaning I cannot repeat them.
As a result I hated him more than I thought possible.

But his training, experience, and mentoring kept me alive on several occasions.
Now, I respect him more than any man I've ever met.

Only difference is he now calls me Sir. ;-)

So, Brian, are you still in Lakeway? I'm just 3 miles south of your shop in Bee Cave, been meaning to stop by and say hello. Let us know where you are!

    I totally relate to Brian.

Im on a forum related to my specialty and constantly getting second guessed by people who dont have 1/100th my experience and post highly incorrect information.

I found myself getting snippy with people, so to avoid any business repercussions I just stopped posting there.

Though I hope Brian keeps posting here.

Brian is one of the most knowledgable people regarding Ferraris in the world. We are lucky to have him as a resource here on FerrariChat. His insights regarding people's Ferrari problems and humor are what make this website interesting to read.

Many other Ferrari techs on this site have gotten fed up with all of the BS and have left the building. Please don't add him to the list.

If you can't put up with a little attitude for getting expert information for free, just click the back button and look at something else.

Thanks Mike for your observations. I'm glad that I can somehow communicate here at all. On some car forums over here every second thread ends with fights.
But I really learned a lot of new english words in this thread to expand my vocabulary. 'Grumpy grease monkey' for example and other terms I don't want to repeat :)

Though not very useful for business or similar communication.

    Best

Let's see, if we get rid of the people who actually know stuff and take the time to tell us, like Brian Crall, we will be left with people who don't know stuff and call each other names.

That is a great idea! We can be like the rest of the internet. Or Twitter. Let's do it.

There are several other techs here, who prove, that it's not necessary to act belittling and calling 'stupid questioners' idiots.
Steve Magnusson for example. I had an electrical problem some months ago. He was of great help and I came back with several further inquiries, before performing, what he recommended. And he patiently answered.
One can think 'idiot', but it's not mandatory to say/write it on every occasion.

Well then princess, your only real options are to stop reading every thread here or to learn to ignore Brian's comments.

If you insist that we should vote someone off the forum, I think you'll find that there are far more members here that if forced to choose, would vote for you to be the one to go, and for Brian to remain... so you probably shouldn't push your hate fest too far and just get over yourself.

No question Steve is an amazing resource here.

But the Ferrari / exotic world from my experience is made up of passionate curmudgeons of all types, and that's what makes it fun.

Anyone who ever met Bob Wallace would certainly put him in that category.

Personality and passion run together. We seek the answers to our questions. We are lucky someone with experience and judgement sometimes gives us the information free of charge.

    They don't have to.

Amen to that! But what a source of information he was.

    This isn't unique to Brian.

Waaaaaaay back in the early days we had a mechanic here that was a bit "harsh", if you will, to everyone in almost every response (something even Brian isn't guilty of).

However, they were a lot alike in that they both really know their craft. I mean really know it. The days of the service station mechanic are long gone. To stay ahead, to be top notch, requires CE like we and physicians are required to do and it was this guy that made me first realize how much you had to "know" to do what they do.

He had a 2Vi 308 and when he sold it, he signed off here for good. I don't remember his name now. Maybe someone else can.

Why is it that evrything has to be sugar coated.

Think of it as a college or grad school professor, they called people out all the time. great way to teach and learn, plus its entertaining.

It's one of the diseases of our time called Political Correctness.
It's not OK to call someone stupid anymore even though its the closest definition in the context.
In a twist of irony the phenomenon produces an awful lot of stupid people who believe they're not.

I have to say how a thread like this survived moderator scrutiny surprises me a little.
