When I purchased the car this winter, it had 8700 miles on it. I loved the low mileage, but I plan on driving and enjoying it as much as I can (no sense saving the miles for the next guy)!

Just crossed 59,000 miles in mine. Just enjoy the heck out of it, drive it everyday if you can.
They do last, and yes they do run better when you drive them.

    Since we talk mileage now...
In my opinion, if someone in 2000 bought a Ferrari 360 (preferably 6-speed manual in Rosso Corsa) and stored it for 20 years 9 (put 0 miles in 20 years) , in 2020 this car could sell for at least $600K...

If the car cost new $185K , in 20 years your money would appreciate 2.25 times (225% return)... Annually , this is 4.2 % ...

If the selling price in 2020 reached $1 million , appreciation would be 440% or annual return approx 8% !!

P.S. Maybe my numbers are rather optimistic (I was influenced by the recent sale of the 964 RS 3.8 with 10 km for 2.2 milion) , so better to drive the cars and not care about mileage !!!

Uh.. you do realize 2020 is only 2.5 years away, right? Highly unlikely 360s will be going up 6x in 2.5 years. Nice to dream but just enjoy them for what they are meant for!

Edit: just saw your edit - now you are on the right track! :)

Hey you are talking about my car there (same specs!) But fortunately it was not stored in a time capsule and I can drive it now. 61000km on the odometer. And the summer has just started.

...and that assumes zero cost of storage/maintenance during that time, which is not realistic.

Never understand why someone would own a 360 without driving it. What is the point? I purchased mine 3 years ago with 2400 miles on it, it was showroom new condition. Sorted out a few things and now approaching 10,000 and wish I could drive it more!

Randomly bumped into the prior owner at a car wash and asked him, "why didn't you drive it???" He just shrugged...

Yes, I assume zero cost for storage & maintenance, which is realistic if you own a huge garage and you just don't move the car... I'm not saying that it will be ok after 20 years to drive...

But to answer your question about why anyone would keep his car for 20 years without moving, check out this recent sale of a Porsche 964 RSR with 10 km since new...

    1993 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.8 | Villa Erba 2017 | RM Sotheby's

Probably Arab owner who bought multiple examples of the same car... So all you need to do is buy a Ferrari 360 to drive around and one to sit with 0 miles and appreciate in value !!! LOL

By the way, the paintwork looks damaged in that Porsche. It was stored without cover? FAIL. If you can't salvage that paint, you need to re-do that. And then it's not an original car anymore.

And that fully red interior... YUCK! Sorry if someone likes that but it just hurts eyes.

I believe the paint is not damaged... It is Cosmoline anti-corrosive coating... Once it is removed / polished, it will be just as new as it left the factory...

Experts say that this coating is part of the reason why it got such a high price... It is like buying a collector's toy in it's original box and wrapping...

Collector cars like the Porsche 964 RSR are toys, because they never get driven for fear of depreciation... Such a shame !!

This milage obsession is retarded. The youngest of these cars are 2005's. Even at a ridiculous number of 1000 miles/year, that would be 12K miles. Why on earth would you buy it and just look at it? Get a model and play on the carpet. The servicing costs are a bit more manageable.

The cars actually work better if they are used.

Buying and not driving a Ferrari. How strange. When I was a poor kid and dreamed of owning a Ferrari it was ALWAYS moving. (The only exception, of course, was when I was energetically contorting around the 275's seats with a beautiful mini skirted model...) The idea of not driving Guido, our 550 V-12 plutonium powered steamroller, is just plain weird. The Cowgirl and I observe the 10 mile rule: if it's summer and the errand is 10 miles one way, we take Guido. Period.

I do not like garage queens.. So there are 2 kinds of people. Sipping a cup of coffee and enjoy looking at a Ferrari hoping the value will go up everyday. Another one like me is get it on the road whenever you get a chance... I could see myself keeping mine for a very long time. I was about to go for 488 but turbos and 3 colleges supporting acts stopped me for a while. What do you guys want to go from here for the next ride?

If I want something crazy : 458 Speciale Aperta (I am a spider guy)
or 458 Spider and mod it to sound like a beast again. Or adopt the new technology of turbo era and get 488 spider or 650 spider 570 spider (coming out in Nov) to move to McLaren. Give up the open air and get a 458 Speciale???? I think about this every day and when the right time comes, I will visit some dealers... I am 20 minutes away from all exotics dealerships in OC.
