Dealer markup versus private party

reviewing a company based on their asking prices seems rather silly and immature. They run a business. They dont want to sell you a car at the price you are willing to pay - thats called capitalism.

 

well if I sell gold covered tacos and the competition provides same product for much less and same good customer service what would you think? Would you give the place charging more for same service and product 10 stars just for that? I don't think so. Reviews do reflect that.

 

So you've found the car you want for much less at another dealer, have you? Oh wait... so your rhetorical question is actually nonsensical. You're quite ridiculous. I definitely agree that it's a real dick move to leave a rating for a business with which you've conducted no business. Where can we leave Yelp reviews for you?

Posting a review of a company that you didn't have a business transaction with is ****** move in my opinion. You didn't like their asking price? Fine. Move on. Find another one.

 

Geezus you guys really do roll out the red carpet to welcome prospective F car owners! At least other car clubs online are easy going and not pretentious rush to judgement types.

This place is amazingly welcoming and amazingly helpful. My family still vacations annually with people we met here.

There are a lot of business owners here. As a "future CEO" per your profile, you could make amazing contacts and learn a great deal from some very successful people. It's stunning how generous some very smart and wealthy people have been with me on a variety of topics after we met through Ferraris.

Or, you could call them pretentious for disagreeing with what you did and then bragging about it here.

There are 100,000ish people here and it's not a "club". It's also completely public and searchable through online search engines. F-chat does have a great collective ability to sniff out BS though.

No, he's the real deal. I'm ashamed to admit I wasted the time to actually check on Yelp, and the review was indeed left (as well as other similar ones).

Ok. I read the yelp history. this one is interesting: "These guys suck! I wanted to buy an aircraft and the broker guy Jim kept making excuses that he was not available and could not show me any of the planes listed for sale."

I also like the low review for a lawyer he never used because the fee was too high.

Lots more of the same car type ones going back years.

There's clearly something going on there with some reality disconnect. I'm out.

 

The Yelp review of the career counselor is the most telling. Guy was laid off and given outplacement and he's now shopping for a Ferrari.

 

What's that old saying... if you meet a jerk in the morning you met a jerk, but if you meet nothing but jerks all day...

 

You couldn't pay me enough to be a Ferrari salesman. Granted, each dealership has a core of cool long-time customers. But even the best customers tend to be very anal. And, then, you have idiots like this guy who come in trying to impress whoever with how smart they are, while they lean over a car and scratch it with their belt buckle.

 

A dealer has the right to ask whatever they want. By the same token one may offer whatever they wish. Make an offer rather than posting " their cars are priced higher than the balls on a giraffe ". I don't think the OP gave them a fair shake without making an offer. JMHO . Best , Kirk.

After buying a number of Ferraris and other exotics over the years there are a couple of truths.

#1. These cars are worth a ton of money when you're buying them from a dealer.

#2. These same cars are worth very little when you're trying to trade or sell them back to a dealer.

These 2 truths are not specific to any particular dealer. They apply to every dealer. They're all alike.

 

Yelp review:My wife, Morgan Fairchild, is tired of driving me to career classes, so I thought I'd buy a 430 to drive to interviews and cheap restaurants.
I stopped at De'lusion Motorcars, tried to buy a 430, and they actually wanted to charge me interest on the 200k loan! You believe that? Stay away, and that holds for De'lusion Jet and Yacht brokerage too.
My friend Gentry had an awful time getting clear title to his jet with them.

Seems like there are 2 dimensions going on here.

1) Why do dealers mark up so high?

Dealers normally charge higher than a private party because they 'usually' have done all the recent service. There is always room to negotiate too. Finally, they many times are consigning cars for owners, and the owner is setting the 'high' price.

2) Actual acquisition
You said yourself that you see many nice F430s for 90-120K .. so you can just buy one of those and not have to worry about #1.
