I know there is one out there, Not Shy. Looking to buy an F40 regardless of condition. Salvage title, Flood, wrecked, Blown up, engine fire, rusty chassis, bad history, no history, regardless of needs heeds or if it still bleeds. I have been there and done that with the gammet of auto restoration. Now its time for the Father Son project that inspires my 12 yr old Son to keep the F car passion burning into the next generation and only an F40 will do. PM me if any leads or you have a Basket case stashed somewhere that your ready to sell.

With the prices commanded in the last 10-15 years for these cars it's probably very unlikely to have a barn find situation?

But good luck and keep us posted I for one would love to hear the story.

Agreed. Bonnets fetch $10k for used ones.

I would think a mop job would still be in the space (but rightfully so :) )

Good luck!! We are all looking for that unicorn... there might be one somewhere.. Ha... I inquired about a F40 rear engine hood from a seller on this site, thought it would be cool in the garage. Think it was 30k.. Your other problem is finding available parts.. I have a 03 575 and was trying to just find a original oil hose for the car, the factory is not making and is unattainable. The love of Ferrari ownership...

You may have seen it, but there was a story in Forza about 15 years ago featuring a fellow who rebuilt a crashed/burned F40. Basically just an engine/trans and parts of the frame were left. It was inspirational...

I know of a car in Europe that requires a lot of work, the owner was seeking €600,000 last I heard from him.

There are a few burned to the ground ones in Europe recently, yet to see any of them come up for sale other than the one that's now completed and up for auction.

The parts are out there if you have deep pockets.

Simply build one along similar lines but to your own spec, that's what I have been doing the last few years :) and even nicer with a v12 fitted anyway!

I have an 11 year old son that we have been talking about restoring a ferrari with.
Truly a heavenly experience to come.

I would imagine , that a crashed out f40 will be the same price as a driver. As the title is the real commodity.

Wishing you best of luck to come !

yep, the backup plan. We contemplated a ruined 3x8 and a GTM kit gone F40 build. Would love to put all that effort into a legitimate F40 even if it heads into a highly modified route tho.

Just a thought, but in the event an f40 is out, what about building a 288 evolution, from a real 308 chassis,

Let me help. Buy a mint one...I'll drive it for the summer and then it'll be ready for a restoration by winter. Deal?
