Sorry, I forgot to include that pertinent information. It's a 2000 and it has 39,385 miles on it currently.

Is it my eyes or are the Scuderia shields not in their usual place?

Love the color combo. Good luck with sale.

Thank you. Yes they're in their original place, on the 456 they're slightly lower.

She's a gorgeous example, inside and out. Beautiful. It's really, really obvious the shields are too low. If you pop them off it'll show better and sell faster is my guess. GLWS

I guess I'm wrong, I never even noticed it over the 3.5 years I've owned it. There doesn't appear to be any paint blemishes impying they were ever mounted in a higher location, I'm not sure why anyone would have moved them, or Ferrari just decided to mount them there that day. It is a $4,000 option to have those 2 shields on the hood.

^Are the shields recessed (I think the correct term is Frenched) into the fender?

I just went and took a look at them, they're not recessed so most likely a previous owner just added them. I would imagine they could be removed or relocated if one desires.

Those aren't factory places shields. Many people buy aftermarket versions, and place them themselves. Apparently, the previous owner of the car got the location wrong.

Apparently, it is quite a different location then from the factory after looking at some others. I don't think it would deter anyone from buying the car I hope.

What a gorgeous color combination... absolutely what I would go for if I was in the market (I'm not, sadly).

All this discussion about the shields.... first thing I'd do is pull them off and trash them. No need to let everyone know I'm driving a Ferrari from every angle. In the Enzo days, Shields were for race cars and race-derived cars only.

Thank you, it is a great color combo. I'm a little concerned it could cause blemishes to the paint if they were removed, I'll probably let the next owner remove them if they don't want them.

    this is incorrect.
they are in the wrong place. evidently after market. best to just remove them unless there is truly an indentation - which i would be worried about since the deck lid is carbon fiber and cannot so easily be altered.

    anyway, they belong here

Most serious buyers would know they can be removed but it's a turn off. Just remove 'em and give it a buffing.

A TdF 456m WITHOUT shields is about as good as it gets I say. Extremely elegant.

The car will be up for auction from 6-17-17 to 6-24-17 on eBay if anyone is interested in bidding.

GLWS, seems like prices have been on the uptick regarding 456's

Yes, I actually don't see why the 456 has always had such a lower value than the 550, it seems to be a more reliable car, has a useable back seat and just as fun to drive. It's actually a very practical car and could be daily driven is mileage was of little concern.

    Jdubbya: thank you!

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe ALL the Ferrari 2+2s have lower values than their two seat counterparts. There's something about having an additional rear seating area that knocks the car down.

E.g. the Mondial vs the 3x8 series. Yes indeed, as has been commented on many times here, Ferrari 2+2s have much lower values than their 2 seat cousins. That's why both the Mondial and/or the 456 will be my first Ferrari's (much more affordable!!)
