According to Cavallino 2 LM's were present during the FF40, 5843 and 6313 so that's why I believe this is 5843.

Thank you very much as always for the clarification Mr Massini.

    :)

    What a beautiful car.

If we spoke hypothetically and the car would go up for auction, what would be the starting price for it?

    Thank you.

Where does the hot air from the radiators go? Does not appear to be any outlet.

I'll admit it, I love that "perfect" look. Guilty as charged. I've also never been a fan of livery. I get why many like it on these great old cars, but I love the clean look of 6045. Regardless of individual tastes, all the 250 LM's are amazing.

Back in the mid 80's, I lived in Bakersfield, California. The office of the building I worked in faced a Kern County Credit Union branch. One day in probably 1986, I heard a thunderous noise outside and I saw a red 250 LM pulling into the credit union parking lot and of course I ran out to take a look at the car that minute.

After the driver came out from the bank, we had a few minute chat and he showed me the interior. I remember there being a plaque on the right side of the dash board. At the time any Ferrari was way out of reach and my knowledge of anything like a 250LM was essentially nil, but I do remember thinking how odd it seemed that such an expensive car would be in Bakersfield. The fellow didn't know about Pebble Beach weekend (I asked him if he'd ever been, as I had just been there for the first time a few months before). I do not know if the guy lived in Bakersfield or was just passing through, I didn't think to ask.

So, while this is very little information to have much hope of obtaining concrete answers, the questions about this episode I've being dying to ask for over 30 years are: was this a real LM, what serial number is it if so and did the guy live in Bakersfield?

photo #3,#4 and #18 was 6313 in 1992 but the identity of both cars 6023 and 6313 were switch in the past ,this car is the real 6023 and was later in a Swiss collection (still?)see Cavalleria n° 15 on the 250 LM or Cavallino n° 127.
The car on photo #17 is 5843.

I am expecting this at Ed's house. Pre-sale to Sonny, pre-back from Sonny. Pre-restoration by Griswold.

And the winner is (Tatatatata) 375+, with bonus prize to Jeff. The Siata was a test car from Ernie McAfee, with a Singer (!) engine. He imported a small group of these cars, less engine, and would then install the lump of your choice. Jeff is correct; many of my pix were taken at my home on Rockcliff Drive, just under the "HOLLYWOOD" sign, where I lived from about 1962 to 1973. Now back to our regularly scheduled...

Great fun, thanks Ed. Do you have any photos of the Hollywood sign taken from your home?

I thought the whole of Piper's 250LM was/is fibreglass. Plus Piper's LM has the long nose which was post factory to my understanding.

Long nose were built by Piero Drogo anyway. Not factory, not Scaglietti.
