I think if they put in an option to where you can get the paint right up to the actual grill it will fix the issue a lot of people have with that huge gaping hole look in the front
Saw the car in person. 70th anniv color is really nice. Car overall seems very solid and desirable to drive. Looks are still La CorViper, yet the interior quality is better.
The looks aren't that bad! The sound is pure heaven. Watch the 488 spider review attached at the end. The sound is no comparison IMVHO.
I took a short video, but it was very dark so I did not take much but it still shows some of the lines. https://youtu.be/VX5FIjSPFNA Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm totally agreed with you, I saw it at the factory and I couldn't leave.....is just stunning car from every angle!
Do you think the exhaust surrounds should be painted same to the body color ? Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't think so, it will make the look bulky and heavy. All the ferrari cars I've seen with the painted lower parts didn't look good IMO CF is the way to go, even if that costs the GDP of a small african country
yes indeed!! the problem is not just to do the exhaust surrounding, but if you do that you "must" do the sides the front and the air intake in the front to look all the same without plastic....and yes is the GDP of an small african country, around 16k euro...I love it but is a bit too much to add it at my actual spec
I don't think so. It will make the rear look much lower and disporportioned to the front. It has a nice aesthetic where the lines raise from front to back. If the back has those sections painted and the rear diffusor in the body colour than it will make the rear "sag" from a "design" point of view. I also think cf can be overkill.
Competely agreed, if you do the rear, you do everything I absolutely love all the carbon fiber options in general but 16k euros is really expensive... even in the F world. Ferrari makes a FORTUNE with CF options... since those are not very expensive to produce. And those parts are exposed to road damages. I suggest to go plastic and chose a color that won't make those parts pop up to much
Exhaust surrounds became a major design statement with the TDF. I too think that if you painted them to match the body, not only would the design detail become lost but that it would look bulky and less attractive. You can have them painted a different color, though. That may or may not be much less expensive than doing them in carbon. Custom paint work done by Ferrari is actually not done by the factory but by an outside firm. Someone will have to chime in on this point. To paint a stripe on a car or have the large retro fender shields costs $10,000 or more. On the 812, to make everything match will include the front grill turning vanes, the front bumper skid plates, the rocker trim, the wing mirror trim and triangle, the small trim which runs along the edge of the roof by the door window, and the exhaust surrounds. To do all of this with custom paint may cost about the same as getting them done in carbon which aesthetically looks as good or better than custom paint.
Good luck picking the right color. Actually I think the car can wear many colors well. Yellow red blue silver grey black. Take your pick. It's a bit overwhelming given the range of paint offered. Oh do you know what the " mirror link" option is ?
Absolutely I remember members MarkMoon and Jcoburn custom painting the plastic parts of their Tailor made F12's Maybe they can help about the price. The difference is that on the F12 you coudn't have the exhaust surround in CF Since they are available on the 812, i suggest to chose carbon over custom paint.
no no is for the frontal air intake the 2 sideskirts and the 2 front lips in the front in the lower part of the bumper...just the exhaust part is 3700 euro
16k Euro translates to 20k USD - Ferrari do make it difficult. That's one of my reasons on exploring painting the exhaust Surround Plus the 812's design is so busy that I doubt most folks will even notice the carbon bits or appreciate them - IMO
