for some reason.. a 355 F1 car is interesting me more lately..

for me, my first 355 had to be a manual...
not that Im in a position yet for a 2nd car.. but if/when I would be.. I would not pass up on a sorted F1 car..

I almost like the thought that it is the first generation F1 system..
although its F1, it probably offers more involvement then the newer systems..

perhaps my interest grew, when I learnt that the F1 system can receive driver performed throttle blips between downshifts..

for me in my manual car.. that is like 50% of the driving enjoyment..!

heres a vid attached.. for F1 drivers, are those downshift blips driver inputted..?

this is what im trying to learn with the 355 F1 system..

does the system blip the throttle on its own from a certain rpm range.. or just a flat downshift regardless..?

    Driver input.

Once you understand it, the 355 F1 system is about as basic a system as you could imagine.

The magical "blips" and other things come along later...and are really nothing more than an automatic transmission.

As you do your research you will discover just how unique the 355 F1 system is. It is an electronic / hydraulic operation of a standard 6 speed manual gearbox. Cool as hell actually.

The F1 will be THE 355 to own one day. I just bought a front to back spare system (including the computer) while it is still reasonable.
The RAWness of the 355 F1 system is just Tooo cool.

a current F1 owner should post a detailed video review of the 355 F1 system..

there is nothing on the 355 f1.. just random vids..

there is a fairly well done 360 F1 operation review video. attached here.

It's a super cool system that's a ton of fun to do what you describe. Find the video of the guy doing heel & toe downshift blips.

There has to be the factory video on this for the 355 floating around somewhere.

The link I had for it on youtube no longer works- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDEeoYwt3Qc

ya I know which one you're talking about.
    but that was really old.

I'm thinking more a current dated review.

Driver blips the throttle. It's actually a good system. You need to blip if you want the downshifts to be rev-matched.

People who deride the early F1s simply tried to drive the car like an automatic. You need to drive with a manual mindset and remember that it's still basically the same clutch.

Same reason I always loved the Maserati Quattroporte DuoSelect. If you drive it like a manual, it's great. Problem is, people tried to drive them like an automatic--which eventually they became. I still would like a nice QP DuoSelect someday.
