AMALGAM COLLECTION – NOW AT 1:18 SCALE

Amalgam are world leaders in the creation of precisely detailed large scale models for F1 teams and sponsors. Amalgam supplies the leading luxury and sports car manufacturers, builds bespoke models for owners of the real cars, and creates small editions for collectors of fine models worldwide. In motorsport and the high end car manufacturing industry Amalgam Collection models are commissioned by CEO’s, team principals, designers and drivers.

Amalgam’s work is a powerful combination of art and technology using CAD data and digital scanning alongside timeless sculpting and very refined finishing skills to create models indistinguishable from the real cars in photographs. Amalgam’s passion is for precision and their mission is to immortalise the most important and iconic car designs, current and historic.

Utilising their full and detailed data, their deep knowledge and experience, along with their close and important relationships with the creators, designers and owners of iconic cars past and present, Amalgam are now creating beautifully presented collections of models at 1:18 scale made to the same exacting standards that have made their large scale models famous. The collections will start to launch from late 2016.

    THE CONCEPT

Since the1920s luxury and racing automobiles have expressed not only the leading edge of engineering capability as it evolved but also the style and zeitgeist of each decade. Each collection of models represents a chapter or an essential thread in the history of the car, captured in a few carefully chosen examples.

    THE PRESENTATION

Each model is presented on a polished black acrylic base with a clear acrylic dust cover. Within a slot in the side of the base the spine of a leather folder is visible containing a certificate of authenticity along with a short description of the car and its place within the collection. The certificate is accessible by removing the clear dust cover and sliding out the leather folder. The model with base folder and cover are packed inside a luxury black box that hinges open to reveal the perfectly detailed model within.

An F50 would be a good choice. I don't think it's been reproduced well in the larger scales. Even the versions from Tamiya are not good.

My only feedback in general is to consider what has and what hasn't been already done in the past. I mean, the 250 GTO is a great car but do we really need another one?
