No, Lewis does not upset me at all...For me he could stay in Greece for the rest of the year...
What I do not get is how one can be lulled by his ever repeating speaches and tweet when his action at the same time says different. For me it is not Lewis loosing in my eyes but his fans for even defending him for that...Maybe it is because I was never a real "fan" of anyone to follow his daily business, tweets or whatever...be it singer, actor or sportsman.

PS: why I seem to be against Lewis? For the same reason why I seem to be against Bayern Munich in German football: because a lot of people behave that it is all about them...Same in F1: Lewis is a great (but for me not outstanding) driver but I do not get why 99% of the time it is all about him, even when he lost against Nico people where only talking about him...this is some sort of disrepect against all the others doing exactly the same thing: driving an F1 car

I don't know anything about Hamilton, apart from watching the GPs on TV. I don't follow twitter, instagram, Facebook or other media; I am simply too old for that sort of thing.

But I come here, on a good forum to discuss about F1 and all I see is people talking about Hamilton, Hamilton, and Hamilton, even when there is nothing to say about him.

I don't like the look of the guy, but that's because we are of different generations. I wouldn't like my grand-children to look like that: that's all. But I understand that in a modern world, you have to create a different image to get noticed.

 

So William, if your family hosted a family reunion and one of your grandchildren whom lets just say for the sake of arguement did very well in school, well mannered, but chose to skip the family reunion to "rest" and skip it....how would you feel about him/her skipping the family reunion. Personally, I would not think highly of him/her just for skipping the family reunion.

I respect Bas's way of how he feels about him and yours...the one common denominator in all this is the use of social media by Hamilton; he puts all of his business out there....which both of you conclude, his fans are suckers.

 

I don't do family reunions !! I find them boring.

And also, I respect my children and grand children's choice to do what they want.

Fair enough. From my end, mine are quite the opposite: kids from all generations playing together, adult games, everyone catching up and new faces, picture taking, alot of Bar-B-Que and alot of Beer....all into the hours of the morning.

Hence my segway into the London showing, F1 family having alot of fun and engaging with future F1 fans, alot of picture taking, some champagne....I wanted to be there. Its says alot about the drivers and ex-drivers that showed up....all a class act regardless of the politics and venue location.

I am only interested in racing, not the PR or the razzmatazz , plus now I don't like crowds, noise, etc...

You obviously feel strongly about Silverstone, but you're presenting the story somewhat incorrectly...

Silverstone had a deadline to renegotiate their deal. With the deadline quickly approaching, Liberty tried to work with them to simply negotiate an extension of the deadline...IOW, let's keep talking about this...

Silverstone (BRDC) chose to take the hard line to make their point. IOW, we're done talking about this...

Any assumptions about the cost and cost increases were just that as long as negotiations were still taking place. The BRDC's actions are what ceased the negotiations. Silverstone is iconic, but it has had all sorts of problems for many years.

 

Anyone watch any of the Sky coverage. Cracks me up how they have to say how it's the best weekend of the year like every 5 minutes. Love hyping their own race even though the actual racing here is usually pretty mediocre

The way I see it, Silverstone has been taken to the cleaners during the last few years.

Liberty didn't look like it was being serious in bringing new solution to the problem, so a divorce was inevitable.

No deal is better than a bad deal.

For a few reasons, the last few years are largely irrelevant except as an indication of market potentials, etc.

Until negotiations are over, anything remains possible. Due to the actions of the BRDC, the negotiations are over. They can do whatever they feel is in their best interest...but there's a very strong chance that their actions will ensure either no British GP or one that fans such as yourself have said would be very distasteful...I.e., another boring street circuit in London.

But...a bad race is better than no race, I guess.

 

To be fair, Silverstone as a track deserves to be preserved far more than some of the tilke bore-o-dromes. However, I'm really confused (not surprising I guess), what on earth has Silverstone got to do with the F1 live events london? These events are carried out all over the world at times, does anyone really think they will shut down the centre of London over three days just for a race?, well, maybe of they are allowed to leave the speed cameras on, but otherwise, no way........
