Sorry to revive an old thread ...

Remove #22 sounds really easy, but how? It's not obvious to me how it comes out.

Thanks, but no sign of a screw on mine. It looks like you would have to take the rest of the dash out to slide it out. Is it possible to drop the steering column down without removing it? I am just trying to access the wiring to the instruments to sort out why various things are not working.

    Hi Patrick

2 small slot headed screws on mine, one each side. I well remember them as I had the devil's own job locating where the screws had to go when refitting it, bit made any easier by the screws being slot headed rather than cross headed which meant keeping the screwdriver in the right place while doing contortions to get to them really difficult.

I seem to remember that the screw heads were well buried in the vynil. Persevere and I'm sure you'll find them.

There aren't any screws on mine so I've decided to take it back to the trimmer and have them remove the interior so that I can fix the electrical issues that seem to have surfaced. Once I am happy I will get them to put it back in.

I will try and take some photos of the wiring for posterity.

On the radio front I have removed the Pioneer Radio/Cassette player and sourced a stereo Blaupunkt radio manufactured in 1976. At least I'll be able to listen to the radio whilst I am waiting for the AA I guess.

Mine has a Clarion radio cassette which does work though it needs a new drive belt for the cassette. Don't know if it was fitted as original but it has certainly been in the car since 1989 when the then owner wrote to Clarion for instructions and was told that the item"had been deleted some long time ago". Currently the electric aerial doesn't go up. It did before I had some bodywork done 2 years ago. I have tested it direct from a battery and all works fine. Have traced it to the permanent live wire not being live. The up/down switching wire works fine. So that needs sorting when I have time.
