    I think it depends on how the Ferrari compares to the Mercedes over the next races. I doubt that Wolff and Lauda allow the two to race each other hard unless the WDC and WCC are certain. Right at the moment they are not as confortable in front compared to the last years so we might see a non-aggression pact until Seb is thrown off. At least this would be the clever thing to do but I guess Vettel is hoping different...

    Also, Bottas is only on a one year contract and better watch his steps.

    Hamilton is still the Number Once at Mercedes, until further notice.

    All the more reason to go for it. He wins a wdc this year his stake rises significantly

    I just don't think Mercedes is going to let that happen.

    When you pay an already triple world champion something like $40M per year, you tend to protect your investment by not allowing a lesser graded driver to challenge him too vigorously.

    Hamilton is de facto Number One. Bottas has been allowed to shine when his leader wasn't able to fight for a win, because of technical problems, etc...

    I cannot see Mercedes accepting a repeat on track of the Hamilton/Rosberg duel that went on for 3 seasons.
