Sorry, less kms is O.K. .... but more is not O.K. We have a nice 60.000 kms 458 for sale here that nobody seems to want ... Reason ... if driven 3-4- years and 20.000 more put on the odometer it will be impossible to sell ...
The reality is that options on all these cars rarely pays any dividends so if resale is important then one must be cognizant of which options are often desired by most people. Resale mosts accurately depends on model, year and miles. Thus, if the average sale of a used GTB is a bit over 300K then those with MSRPs under will make money and those over will loose money. This is for standard colors combos and standard miles. Outliers like odd mixed color combos will obviously take a hit since most buyers (especially first time buyers than are getting into their first or second Ferrari and can't get an allocation or don't want to wait) want traditional looking cars. Obviously this is a generality but holds true MOST of the time.
The high specced ones get hit pretty hard. Mine is 329k - not too far off from yours. Im sure I could get in the 300 range if I was to sell it
I'd hope they are softer. Who the hell would pay sticker on a car that's potentially 18 months old and someone else's spec? Only in America...
What also imo does not help if cars are lowered or had their configuration "changed" ... The oem dealers hesitate to take them because the F factory forbids them to do so. So if f.i. other shockers or IPE exhautsts were installed the do not PPI them ... and are not given Pre Owned Warranty for Exclusive Retail or Power Warranty ... They have to sell prvately ... which is not good for their value/pricing either ... Seen that happen over here a lot of times ... is this so in the U.S. too ?
A year ago, not so many used available. So if you want one from the dealer, they would tell you a story to wait 2 years or maybe 3. So for those who got panic, paid over sticker for the used ones. Now there are many many available, from high options to almost no option. If you go to the dealer for a new one, they will roll a red carpet for you. So it is impossible to sell over msrp, not even close. What you see in the website are offering prices, the real price can still go lower. When 75 units are available, bargaining is going to happen.
5k miles is no way a lot of miles at all.... but for garage queens it is . which is sad because its a huge mistake to not drive a car. its actually ridiculous. I know for a fact. I DID IT!!!!!!!! what A WASTE OF MY CAR OR BETTER YET CARS......NOW. IF YOU GET ULTIMATE FULFILLMENMT BY JUST LOOKING AT IT AND SEEING IT WITH VERY LOW MILES THEN FOR EACH HIS OWN..... AND I COULD CSRE LESS FOR A 488.... 458 IS KING
I hope the 812 will follow the same pattern too...as I wanted one but am tired of the dealer game already.
Lowest price gtb i found in a dealer is about $270k 1,000 miles. Lowest price spider from a dealership is about $350k similar mileage.
This imaginary concept that one needs to give a dealership money so they'll "put you in good favor" blows me away. You're buying a >$300K car that should be MORE than enough to get great consideration... sorry but I don't cater to those I'm giving money to that goes the other way around.
I agree with you 100%. I have a few friends that will play this game with the dealership. They buy a new model almost every 6 months and trade in their previous Ferrari. The dealer tells hem what to buy , when to buy it , and when to sell it. Ot seems like the work for the dealer. This has helped them as they were able to order a Speciale Aperta and a TDF. We all know how the values of those cars have appreciated over the last year. So it's a Win/Win for both parties.
I 100% agree with you. We are the guy who spend money, so don't act like the guy who is asking for donation.
Yeah We all know a few of those guys too, sad reality is some barely drive the limited cars because they are concerned above value. It's a endless game and I am not sure how much happier you are knowing your car is going up in value but fear adding miles to it so you drive something else...
Do they actually make money on cars like the aperta or tdf? I mean we all know what they are asking for the car but do these cars actually at that price? 700k for a convertible speciale??? Really?
Must be I guess. I'm all for owning the latest, greatest and rarest, but just not sure if some of these sales make sense. Then again, owning an exotic makes no sense either.
